TIL a Canadian from Greece took an American version of an Italian dish and added tropical fruit to it and called it a Hawaiian pizza.
  • Whats even crazier is the ethnobotanical path to GET those ingredients together.

Tomatoes had to be brought from south america. Bred to grow at lower altitudes. Peasants had to be persuaded to eat them (they were formally animal feed because they were from the nightshade family and peasants didn't trust the fruit not to be poisonous since the leaves are) and then enough time (100 years) had to pass for them to develop cuisine around them.

  • Something called a chimichanga in my neck of the woods. You can get one smothered or dry. You can even get one stuffed with fruit and covered with sweet and spicy sauces

For all that is holy, DO NOT use TurboTax!!
  • Yes. My taxes are insanely complicated. I do not have the attention to detail or time to do it myself.

Tax accountant wants 1800 to do it and I've had multiple people fuck it up before.

turbo tax wants 150. It takes me less than two hours. It's only been fucked up once due to an rsu maturing in a different state and clicking us over into a different qualification for dual state income

Also with our income we don't qualify for free

It has its place as a tax software and since it works I see no reason to spend time looking for a new one

Taylor Swift Fans Cause Seismic Activity Comparable to Small Earthquake at Seattle Eras Tour Shows
  • That's not uncommon or unexpected.

Many decades ago I worked at the sierra natural history museum in california. It on a college campus and it has a Richter scale within the confines of the museum

Classes more or less released for lunch at the same time every day past a certain point due to teachers union agreements. The Richter scale would always register a seismic event just from students migrating from the classrooms to the various food venues and seating areas. We had to make a note on the printout (yes I'm that old)

Does a cat ever wonder why humans feed them?
  • I mean it depends on the cat

I have a feral who acts like it's some great coincidence that she lives in the ultimate lap of developed world luxury and humans just happen to be there and no they can't touch her

I have two kitten brothers who only love because they are fed. If one of us starts being more regular about feeding them then that's their new best friend

I have an old lady cat who couldn't care less about food she just wants her belly rubbed and a friend to be with

My husband has his geriatric boy who I'm fairly certain is a small man in a cat suit. He keeps us all on a tight schedule of demands.

In Today's Cliche Post: How the fuck do I meet new people locally?
  • You're a new single dad

You've already indicated you don't have time that is pretty normal. Dual parent households usually take a couple years to get their social lives back on track unless they can afford a nanny

In all that is wrong with recycling to begin with, do I even need to put cardboard and paper into recycling; or does it just break down easily in all the garbage?
  • You cannot make paper out of all wood.

Additionally, the process to remove lignin, a binding protein, from wood in order to make paper is extraordinarily environmentally destructive. Paper mills do not smell good and are toxic waste sites for a reason

Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?
  • Most of the fans had prior experience with the franchise

The movie does not explain at all who sargeras is and he basically shows up randomly. Critics expect a high fantasy plot but it's basically a monster movie in a high fantasy setting with this setup.

I liked it. But it's not what people expect from high fantasy

  • I assume this person is a minor.

I can't imagine a scenario where another grown adult would yell at another grown adult for being nd. People just walk away, not confront.

AI generated images of the 'typical' home in all 50 states, 30 biggest US cities
  • I have only seen houses like that in California in smaller coastal towns, not cities or in suburbia.

I've seen whole neighborhoods like the Arizona house in California. Very popular tract style in the late 90s early 2000s. A row of houses across from mine all renod to look like that.
