They pissed
  • When they signed their contract with Farian, they had no idea at all that they would be lip syncing. When they found out, Rob was pissed and confronted Farian, who threatened legal action against them if they didn't complete the contract. They weren't "in on it", they were coerced into going along with it.

    They pissed
  • They lied about the lip-syncing because doing so was a stipulation of the contract they signed with Frank Farian. The thing Rob and Fab were really guilty of is naivety. They were young and inexperienced and didn't read the fine print. Then, when Fab and Rob threatened to go public, Frank threw them under the bus and claimed he had nothing to do with it, despite the entire thing not only being his idea, but having long been his MO in the industry.

    They pissed
  • "They" are not pissed, because Rob is dead. I'm certain Fab is just thrilled to see people being successful because he's a super chill and legitimately talented dude who got screwed over.

    **UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT**
  • I like everything you have to say here. I really hope that this can become a good alternative to FetLife for all things kink, eventually. I like Fet as a platform, but they definitely have some moderation issues among other things, but that's its own discussion for its own topic, I suppose.

I definitely look forward to seeing how things develop here. The Fediverse is definitely a great platform to establish a strong community.

Out of curiosity, is there an interest in having a separate "sister community" explicitly dedicated to kink/BDSM education? I don't know the logistics for something like that as far as Lemmy is concerned, but I can't stress enough how important my local Lifestyle groups have been with regards to education and support, and there are a lot of places that don't have resources like that anywhere nearby. It'd be great to have a sort of virtual alternative for folks that don't have a local kink scene, or that aren't comfortable in such a "public" setting.

Reddit is blocking users based on user agents?
  • I hate using it, but there are some things I just can't find info on anywhere else. Reddit is always a last resort, but it frequently turns out to be the only resource.

Can someone please explain the cow thing?
  • I can't speak for everyone, but I personally know a woman or two that enjoy this as a degradation kink because it takes the power put of being called a cow as an insult. I also know another woman that just thinks cow print is adorable.

Is there a way to hide your activity?
  • Either don't say shitty things, or stand by the things you post. If you're concerned about things you say being used against you, then you either know that your stances are ethically or morally questionable, or you enjoy bad-faith arguments for the fun of it.

An elementary student died and 23 others injured after their Ohio school bus was hit on first day of class
  • The driver has a seatbelt because they are not sandwiched between seats explicitly designed to absorb energy and reduce injury. They have a steering column, dashboard, and windshield in front of them. There is no irony in their username, just ignorance on your part for speaking about a topic you know nothing about.

An elementary student died and 23 others injured after their Ohio school bus was hit on first day of class
  • Do you know why?

Full shoulder belts are impractical in full sized school busses, and lap belts have proven to be as harmful as they are helpful. Smaller van-type busses are typically equipped with shoulder belts now, because they are smaller and occupants are more likely to be ejected from a seat in an impact.

Full size busses are designed to prevent this, and are quite safe. Seat belts have been used in full sized busses in the past, and they were found to be more likely to cause harm by either entrapping a passenger or causing direct damage to the hips, upper legs, lower spine, and abdominal organs. Seat belt entrapment has been considered as a possible factor in the deaths of passengers killed in busses that caught fire.

This is still very much a controversial topic. There are certainly instances where seatbelts may have prevented deaths and injuries, but by and large, school busses are one of the safest modes of transportation on the road in the United States. Numerous studies have been done on this subject. Almost any time a bus accident happens that gets significant coverage, people start demanding answers about "why didn't that bus have any seatbelts?", and the results are pretty much the same every time: because in the long run, they don't improve anything. Everything else about a school bus is designed to protect the occupants.

I recommend really looking into this subject yourself. It seems counterintuitive, but when you see the data for yourself, it makes sense.

why isn't the use of the bidet more widespread?
  • In the US, mostly because of the associations with prostitutes made by American soldiers in Europe during WWII. They were frequently called "whore's baths". Personally, I love mine and hate having to use a toilet without one.
