What are some of the best purchases of your life?
  • For me it was a generator. Moved in to a new neighborhood and discovered that the power goes out frequently here. Mostly because all the power lines are above ground and old trees keep falling on them. It was during covid and my kids were remote schooling through zoom. Went and bought a 3500 watt generator to keep the internet and refrigerator and freezers running. Its been the most handy thing I got since we moved in.

Should I have separate Lemmy and Mastodon accounts?
  • This was my thought exactly! I ended up signing up for access on 11 servers in a mix of mastodon, lemmy and kbin. Probably went overboard.

RIF was very important to me
  • RIF was important to me in a way that’s hard to describe. I will always consider it the pinnacle of minimalism functional design. and it was not function over form either, RIF looked amazing.

This was very much the case for me as well! I've been on reddit for 11 years and RIF was very much a large part of that. I would open the app every day. RIF was literally the first app I would install on new phones. I uninstalled it when it stopped working and keep looking for it when I get bored. I left reddit at that point and went looking for something new. Now I'm here, getting used to the different ways of doing things, and quite hopeful that I won't have to leave for a long time. Reddit did burn me a little, and because of that I don't want all my eggs in one basket, so I created accounts on 11 servers in case one disappears or something... that way I can still do things. Did I go overboard? Probably, maybe definitely. But until I figure all this out a little bit better I'm going to keep all my accounts active. But I'll definitely pick one to be my main one soon. 😁
