What 'Poor Things' Tells Us About Neurodivergence
  • A pretty good argument, but maybe the post is on the wrong community? You should consider posting it on neurodivergent communities too.

  • Contextual ads can be privacy preserving. As in Netflix ads in a entertainment page. The problem is targeting the ad on people, and not on content.

This meme was inspired by the response to a meme I posted on r/worldjerking
  • Se can't have a functional alternative if we don't try and experiment dysfunctional ones and improve them. No system arises perfect. The argument that there is no alternative good enough is a tool to abot the creation of a good enough alternative through the improvement of not so good altemratoves.

We don't requite perfection from capitalism, but require from it's alternatives. Why? To block the possibility of a alternative, as all systems have problems, and initial experiments are problemsl ridden.

The countries with the most Fediverse servers are rich and former/current colonial powers. One of the best true barometers of the success of the Fediverse is how quickly we can turn that on its head.
  • Brazillian here. Out biggest Mastodon instance (ursal.zone) is locally hosted, but is behind Cloudflare and appears as US in this list. Most of Brazilian instances are foreign hosted because of cost. This table means nothing in terms of fediverse penetration on Brazil. We have a huge population, and even as most of Brazilian are monolingual, the minority of bilinguals are millions that can read English. Even monolinguals are doing just fine using Brazilian instances, even if foreign hosted.

International leaders condemn Ecuador after police break into the Mexican Embassy in Quito
  • He get asylum because Mexico authorities see his charges as political persecution. There is a trend in Latin America of bogus corruption's trials against left wing politicians, as Lula, Kirchner and Morales cases show.

Always remember that the tribunals are not that just and independent at all, and condemnations can be made up.

  • Very interesting report, and very ethical way to gather the data for study.

The part about how a small number of core users are important to the community is something we need to keep on our minds. But something bugging me is how Threadverse is absent from the report.

    XZ backdoor in a nutshell
  • Authentication bypass should give you interactive access. "I'm in" like. Remote code execution only allows you to run a command, without permanent access. You can use some RCE vulnerabilities to bypass authentication, but not all.
