You know who you are
  • One of the best changes I made at my company was getting everyone to be on a dockerised environment. Prior to this there were a host of issues between the windows and mac users. WSL is awesome.

Senior Devs in huge corps: Do you even code?
  • It's the case in a lot of career paths that as you move up it becomes more about what you know rather than what you do. It is very typical to do less coding as you get promoted and instead be involved in more meetings and architectual decisions. Senior engineer is typically the last level of promotion where you can say programming is a focus on the job. Our staff engineer has made maybe 5 (fairly small) commits in a year and their calendar is almost fully booked every single day with meetings.

Has anyone else seen this interesting "challenge site" when googling a programming topic?
  • It's a bit of an easter egg which once was actually used as a way to get additional candidates. My friend did the entire thing last year and never heard from them, so sounds like they don't use it anymore or perhaps it was due to the layoffs.
