Firefox is not as privacy-friendly as everyone says

I think the best alternative would be LibreWolf

  • r/wicked_edge, r/nosurf, r/meditation

WickedEdge already exists on this platform, but it's not active and doesn't have the same community. These niche communities will not be the same as those on Reddit since many of the people are normies and don't care at all about Reddit's shitty platform. I would open some communities on my own, but I'm not an expert in these fields, like for example in shaving, and I couldn't be of any help for other people.

Will there be a way to migrate your account to another instance?

I would really love if this became an option, since I'm planning on making my own instance. I'd like to keep my subscriptions, posts, comments and bookmarks and migrating would be something great. What do you think?

  • Unfortunatly tons of data are still on reddit and I think it will be hard to recover them. There are some people who scrapped terabytes of posts and comments from Reddit so I hope they will be of some use in the future. Anyways, I should try finding more niche communities and engage with them

  • I've noticed that lemmy is full of discussions about Twitter and Reddit, so that's probably the reason these kind of posts show up, but with niche topics it's a lot harder to find something. I've tried searching, even with the lemmy search engine, a post I made on c/Android using generic words, but I couldn't find anything at all.

  • Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell. They both describe, in a very creative way, the totalitarian regimes of the '40s, especially the soviet one. They give you an insight of what freedom should be, and what are the systems used by dictators to control the popultation: poverty, ignorance, fear, etc.

    Worth reading!

What's the best way to search something on Lemmy?

With reddit you could just add "reddit" or "site:reddit.com" to redirect google searches to reddit, but with lemmy it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to search useful information on Lemmy?

Where do you read books reviews?

When I have to start reading a book I want to know if it's good or garbage, so I like to read some reviews. I don't trust Goodreads, are there some alternatives?

    [Read my comment]

This guide will show you how to run a steamworks fix in linux with Steam and Proton.

This guide assumes basic knowledge of Linux,Steam and SteamTinkerLaunch.

    1. Install the game by any means ex: using Lutris or wine(standalone) to install it.
    2. Install Steam Tinker Launch as a compatibility tool in steam. Guide to add the tool.
    3. In the terminal run "steamtinkerlaunch addnonsteamgame" without quotes, this will open tinkerlaunch's GUI to add a game.
    4. Fill the app name, the exe path and the start dir(start dir is important for some games that report missing assets without it, usually it's the same folder where the game's exe is located).
    5. Restart Steam so the game shows up.
    6. In Steam select the new game entry and go to it's properties.
    7. Force a compatibility tool and select steamtinkerlaunch.
    8. Start the game, when a popu
