How often do you consume the stuff you pirate? How do you avoid "hoarding"?
  • I sort of regretted downloading massive rom packs for retro consoles because I never actually get round to playing them. it's so hard to settle on one when there's so much choice. But now with the recent crack downs on ROM sites I'm really glad I've preserved them. Hoard away friend!

    supermarket club cards
  • Just gave me a random memory. I used to scan stuff through as onions back when self checkout was introduced. Got away with it so many times. Wouldn't recommend it now😅

  • True but they offer clubcard prices for certain items which are made to look cheaper. In reality the clubcard price is the true value and the 'base' price is a mark up. So I guess we're being charged for trying not to give our data

Raspberry PI Retropie or Batocera images?
  • Honestly I think it would be easier to find rompacks with more seeders, Download batocera and then add your Roms yourself. It's not that much more work although it might feel like it

  • Hey I'm sure you all know how sketchy club cards are for collecting your data. But I do begrudge paying slightly higher prices just for valuing my privacy. I was wondering if there was any way to sign up to these things whilst limiting the data they have access to. Would it be enough to sign up with fake details and never use their apps? Or should I just give up on this all together? Thanks!

Is there any app (prefrebly from fdroid main repo ) or website that is open source and privacy based but also can do what true caller does ?
  • I use yet another call blocker. I have it set to block all calls that are not in my contacts. Probably a bit excessive but i hate cold calls. Anyone who actually needs to speak to me can leave me a message and I'll get back to them

  • I personally use adguard to block connections whilst also doubling up as ad/tracker blocker. You can also route different apps through a proxy network such as tor if you want certain apps to be more private

  • Mobilism is good for games/apps. Most of the apks have trackers removed and have access to paid content. If you're particularly concerned you could block them with a firewall
