The iPhone 13 mini is dead, leaving small phone lovers in a lurch
  • I disagree, the regular 14 massively outsold the plus. The regular 12 and 13 were also the most sold of each year as well.

14 overall wasn’t as popular this year as the pro versions though.

I abandoned my iPad for an Android tablet and didn’t hate it
  • I was going to say the exact same thing.

Old 5” screens are roughly equivalent to current 6” screens, and 5.5” equal to around 6.7”

iPhone 14 Pro users complain of major drops in battery health and capacity after less than a year
  • Also 12 pro from November 2020, currently at 88% after around 615 cycles. Although saw rapid drop off initially, has been stuck at around 88% for around a year.

My wife’s regular iPhone 12 also from November 2020, is at 84% after 800 cycles.

What apps are you guys using until Boost for Lemmy gets released?
  • I agree. First time I’ve seen anyone else mention this. If it makes a difference, I’m on iOS, I wonder if the rendering is different in android.

Is lemmy growth coming to a halt?
  • I thought 3rd party access has already gone, with the exception of a few apps like narwhal.

Is old.reddit officially being killed ?

  • Lemmy world was growing at a decent pace leading up to July 1st, then had a big influx following the API deadline. However the last week in particular has seen a decline.

Engagement still appears to be the same, although a little lower than the start of the month. A few of the other instances i have been checking follow a similar pattern.

Do you think we will continue growing at a steady pace, or do we need another big trigger to get users to migrate? For Mastodon, it seems there's a big trigger every other week to drive users away from Twitter, but with Reddit, the revolt seems to have quietened down considerably.

do you also spend a lot less time on Lemmy compared to Reddit?
  • I am starting to. Still browse Reddit occasionally for the communities that are not in here yet.

Reddit as a whole seems a lot less populated. Example, the r/android sub is nowhere near as active as it used to be.

It's official: Smartphones will need to have replaceable batteries by 2027
  • It also looked and felt cheap. HTC did the best solution but back was metal so no wireless charging. I would prefer a back cover like the nexus 5 or lg g4

Into which pocket do you place your phone?
  • Left pocket. Right pocket has my wallet since before I had a phone. I’m right handed but if using phone one handed, will use my left.

    Best Lemmy client for Android?
  • I have the iOS version, you only need to sign in on one instance, but you can also view other instances without logging in, which i think is a good idea. For example you can add beehaw, which is not viewable on lemmy.world

Memmy for iOS has hit the App Store
  • I had the same problem, as i signed in using my email address instead of my username. The app has no option to sign out either. You can edit your account, but only the password, not the username.

I uninstalled and reinstalled it, this time using my username instead of email, now fixed.

Indiana Jones and Flash flopped hard. Could this be the beginning of the end for franchise films?
  • No, 400m includes marketing budget. Reason it typically needs double (actually more like 2.5 times the gross) is that studios only get around half of box office receipts.

  • I used to constantly switch phones, splurging on high end handsets and then having to sell because i needed the money.

Currently have an iphone 12 pro since launch, and will almost be 3 years soon, battery health still at 88%
