The future is now, old man
  • Stuff like this has also been implemented using water pumps/valves, and even in Minecraft using redstone.

Or even in Minecraft using water pumps/valves

    Everybody is meming it
  • Yeah, my Star Trek knowledge starts and ends with the movies (both the OG Trilogy and the two Abrams films), so most of these meme might as well be in Klingon. But everyone else is having so much fun that it's fun laugh along like I understand the jokes.

On a related note, if I wanted to get onto Star Trek, what series does everyone recommend starting with?

  • Nobody said you have to get excited about it

The title of the post is "Seriously. The fuck is wrong with you [for not caring about space]?"

You have more fun with the FPS counter off
  • Fascinating! It never would have occurred to me that the sentence was worded ambiguously until you pointed it out, but your interpretation is 100% valid. English is a strange language.

  • Yeah, 144hz makes a significant difference for competitive FPS games (especially fast paced ones like Overwatch), but I hardly notice a difference when playing single player or PvE oriented games.

Hell, on some games (e.g. Borderlands 3 and CP2077) I actually prefer to play on my 60hz monitor since a smooth 60hz is much more enjoyable IMO than an inconsistent 100-144hz experience. My computer is admittedly pretty old though.

The true story of me discovering the fabled Mystic class
  • Not necessarily.

    A. They might have really liked the flavor and/or mechanics on the UA version and the homebrew version was different enough that it wasn't as interesting to them

    B. OP might have taken long enough researching Mythic and it's alternatives that the player had time to reconsider their choice. The player might have been split between the two anyway

    C. The player might have realized that running a homebrew/UA class was going to be a lot of extra work for themselves and/or the GM, so they decided to do something easier

NCAA investigating Wolverines for sign stealing
  • Your first two examples open up more opportunities for outplays. The opposing team can recognize that you have picked up on their patterns and then run fake-out plays to catch you off guard. Sign stealing just allows you to know exactly what the other team is about to do and there is no opportunity for them to fake you out. (Other than switching to a new set of signs, but learning signs is boring for the players and not entertaining for the audience).

To equate it to poker: Your first two examples are similar to learning one of your opponents tells. If you start to exploit their tell, they can start faking it to force you to fold or place a bad bet. Sign stealing is like taking a peak at their cards

    Plant based > Flesh based
  • 100% agree. There is tons of delicious vegetarian/vegan food, but vegetarian/vegan substitutions of traditionally meat based dishes range from terrible to just okay.

Carb replacement dishes have the same problem. Spaghetti Squash is delicious when cooked as a vegetable, but throwing Ragu on it and pretending it is pasta is just sad.

  • Most sources I've read state that Opossum refers exclusively to North American Opossums and Possum is exclusively Australian Possums.

However, this one article on Meriam-Webster.com claims that the two spellings are interchangeable

ProTip: If you're cooking something, set a timer.
  • because I didn't want a single purpose appliance when I could make it in a pot.

In case anyone else has the same issue, you can make rice just as easily in an electric pressure cooker (e.g. Instapot) which has a much wider use case.

Although, I've never used an actual rice cooker, so I can't testify to the difference in quality
