  • "I’ve always wanted to remove the role [and the] need for professional people to prescribe difficult drugs to use."

You probably will still need a doctor to declare death and in case anything fails. The drugs are not difficult to use. You just take a pill to suppress vomiting and after an hour drink 100ml of liquid. If anything goes wrong the doctor will inject drugs while your still unconscious. Maybe some people would prefer the pod but for me it looks like a gimmick.

  • When universal healthcare takes care of assisted suicide you don't need pods. In Spain either the doctor will administer the drugs in hospital or you can take them home and do it yourself. At home method consists of drinking pentobarbital solution.

  • Yes, I know people will not die without a car. It's just more convenient. Is this really so hard to understand? I could spend hours hitchhiking and literally hiking every time I'm going climbing in the middle of nowhere (which is every week) but it's more convenient to drive. I wouldn't die if I stopped climbing but I like it. So yeah, I own a car.

  • Yes, car is a luxury. It let's you go anywhere they want when they want. People could do just fine without cars if only they limited themselves to daily commutes instead of going hiking, shopping or to that nice restaurant just out of town. It would also be cheaper not to do any of that. But people like comfort of driving so they buy cars and once they have a car they use it to go places. And once they have a car it's cheaper than train. We agree.

  • I’m pretty sure we’re just fucked until they all move out or pass on.

Most young people that support multi-use housing today will stop supporting it by the time they retire. It's not the today's old people that are against everything, it's all old people. The next generation will not be different.
