Never heard about it. My GF vapes and the vape is simply a battery with a charger. The liquid container is exchangeable. You refill it and when it runs out you change it. There's no maintenance. And even if it were true what do I care? We're supposed to contaminate the environment with batteries because some people are inconvenienced by their addiction? As I said, this product is not needed and should be banned.

Really? People smoke for one weekend and then quit? Never ever heard about this. Sure, there are people that smoke sporadically, for example only while partying or something but this is such a minority I doubt anyone would target a product specifically at them. Besides, you can just buy normal vape and buy refills only for one weekend and then 'quit'. $20 non-disposable vape is no commitment, that's my point. And people who can't afford to spend $20 on a vape probably shouldn't be spending their money on smoking anyway. There's tons of policies to discourage people from smoking, banning cheap, single use vapes should be one of them.

I believe the regulations about replaceable batteries will apply here but they are only coming to life in 2025 or even later.

Am I the only one who doesn't care for red meat? It's good but there's a lot of good food out there. I'd take pizza, sushi or campero with papasa over beef any day. Where's this obsession with beef coming from? Is it just good marketing?

Yes but you can also argue that shitload of people simply have kids without thinking even when they absolutely shouldn't. So yeah some people would like to have kids but decide not to while others shouldn't have kids but do anyway. It's really time to change our attitude from "every couple needs kids" to "only some couples should have kids".

This shit really grinds my gears. There's absolutely no need for this product. Normal vape is like $20, you're not saving on anything. In EU the manufacturers are obligated to recover used units (they have to setup boxes where you can drop them and handle recycling) but obviously you see them on the ground all the time. This should be banned with the speed of light but EC thinks the current regulations are enough. Fucking infuriating.

IDK, even since Fight Club we know that cars have defects that kill people and the car companies send Edward Norton to check if it's cheaper to pay to the victims or go to court. This is nothing new. I wouldn't get to worked up about it until I've seen some statistics saying that for example Tesla drivers get into more accidents than other drivers or something. O, wait...

I don't blame USA. I blame European media that keep reporting shootings in USA. If Americans don't have any interest in addressing this issue why even talk about it here? We can't do anything about it and all it does is give stupid ideas to our nutters. It's not like we can send aid or influence policies in USA. I guess it could be relevant to someone who wants to travel there but that's what travel advisories are for. Let's just pretend they are not happening, like Americans do.

They don't because android licensing says that if you ship a phone with AOSP google will not sell you license for android to ship on other phones. Most people want google services so you either aim for the bigger market or smaller but not both. This should be changing in EU though.

Yeah, it's all really tragic. I remember reading somewhere that in one US city the town hall sold the control of all parking meters to a private company. Now the company raises prices constantly and the city can't do anything that would put their profits in danger like closing a road for public event.

Yes, pretty much. You can't verify mass produced, fast fashion clothes. If you want something realisticly certifiable you need to look for high quality, low volume products. Or get a personal tailor and shoemaker.

People keep saying this but Rust is not only about memory safety. It's not C with memory safety sprinkled on top. Compare with C and C++ it has better tooling and dependency management, it's easier to create modules and organize your code, it's easier to write tests and it has loads of nice, modern language features like algebraic types and typeclasses. Because of all this Rust is growing fast and a lot of people like it. Writing things in Rust is a bet that more people will get behind them and you will be able to add more features faster to them than to existing projects in C. The idea is not to simply do the same but in Rust. It is to have a cleaner, easier to approach codebase that will allow to grow faster in the future.
