Anon is an example
  • I've always understood it as going both ways. Someone you call your own, they also get to have you as their own. I'm all yours, and you're all mine. I've viewed it as a way of expressing desire and commitment.

  • Weed isn't illegal in my country. It is also unsafe for them and others to be driving so unsafely and there is no other service that can intervene with them.

  • I see many motorcyclists doing this but it is not the majority of riders. I've started reporting dangerous driving, aggressive driving, dangerous passes, and high speed drivers to police. On major or regional highways it is often effective as I'll pass them pulled over later, results in towns/cities are less reliable due to traffic and more route options.

For the bikers I consider it a favour to them, one I called in was practically asking to get flattened by a semi truck, riding the line while tailgating people waiting to pass. Even if they don't hit anything their erratic driving could cause another driver to panic, swerve, or brake and could cause an accident.

  • Part of my problem is i can't even find trustworthy relationships. Everyone is addicted to hook up culture and finding their next partner on their phone. I've even had people claim I'm sexist because I'd want my partner to remain sober during their pregnancy (I'd be willing to stay sober with them the entire time as well).

I could make a great PC for that...
  • My pc lasted over 10 years without a GPU or CPU upgrade. Now it doesn't keep up with AAA titles but there are still plenty of games, old and new, that I can play.

The US finally takes aim at truck bloat
  • They are probably just going to let companies pay a "fee" (bribe) if their truck performs poorly (fails) during the testing.

  • Yes that is the default mindset. My rights and liberties first before anyone elses, anyone who can't afford their rights and liberties doesn't deserve them.

  • Lawns are the one of the most watered crop in america, and we don't even eat them. Lawns should be completely banned from places with water shortages as a start and replaced with drought resistant native plants.

  • There is a lot of ego to it as well. You aren't a "real man" if you don't drive a truck. People assume they see a truck, thats a hard working real man right there, even if it is just some guy driving to his desk job that doesn't need 500+ hp and 4000lbs towing capacity. I can't remember which company but a truck manufactuer surveyed people with pictures of men next to cars or trucks and the truck scored higher in things like resourcefulness, trust, reliability. And when the exact same guy is pictured next to cars, he scored lower in the same categories. Even some women get trapped in this ego thinking they are tough with stickers like "silly boys, trucks are for girls". Trucks aren't for a specific gender, they are for hauling bulky loads or towing. .

  • You have to consider the versatility of a pc to truly compare them. The pc will have better alternative uses like web browsing, the pc is very easy and fairly cheap to increase storage, you may be able to upgrade just some RAM or GPU to keep up rather than buying a new console. You'll also have access to more games and more modding opourtunities. You can still use a controller on pc although you are often at a disadvantage in most FPS style games.

If you just want to game a console may be better or easier but overall a pc is usually the better investment in the long run.

If only there was a way to get all of those people there and back home without a car.
  • My city bought out some succesful busniesses downtown to demolish their buildings and build a new stadium with surface level parking for all the people who live outside of the city to drive to. Can we at least get a parking garage instead of surface level so we dont have to demolish businesses and homes for the benefits of suburban and rural sports fans? My city is small enough that the footprint of the stadium will be 1/4 or more of the whole downtown area, just sitting there empty for 90% of the time.

  • If cost is the concern, why did it get placed downtown where land is expensive? The stadium could have been built on the outskirts where land is cheaper and they can build as much parking as they want.

We should also be factoring in the long term impacts. Over the course of 20 years is it better to have a sea of parking around the stadium or a parking garage which leaves space for local restaurants, shops and merch stores to open right next to the stadium?

On average, at least 1 car crashes into a 7-Eleven every day, $91M settlement reveals
  • This isn't a 7/11 specific problem. In my area coffee shops tend to be the most common hit, and many of them seem to be a case of someone putting their car into the wrong gear and driving forward when they meant to reverse.

If they are going to demand that 7/11 needs bollards, then just about any business with a parking lot should need them too.

[article] What to do about America’s killer cars
  • Once EVs become popular many of their designs will mimic what we see today with trucks and SUVs. We need regulation specifically for bumper shapes and hood heights. This can help enforce better visibility and improve crash outcomes as lower, curved out hoods push people away or over the car. The current flat and tall hoods on trucks push people under the car.

  • I've been having some minor issues with comments. Once a comment thread gets longer than 3 or 4 comments, accesing those deeper comment chains becomes very inconsistent/impossible. The "view more" button to see the rest of the comments will sometimes just disappear or do nothing when pressed. When accessing deep threads from my inbox or profile it will start at the top of the comment thread and fail to load/access the deeper comments, including the comment I used to navigate to that thread. Has anyone else had similar issues or found solutions?

The past couple updates whenever I'm browing "all" with sort set to "hot" the first few pages of scrolling is accurate but then it turns to posts that are 6months-2years old. This is only after 1-2 minutes of scrolling. Has anyone else had this issue?
