I kinda wish related communities shared a common instance
  • There are multile !asklemmy and multiple !technology and multiple !worldnews and multiple !fediverse... the list goes on.

You really think they're all just gonna create an instance together? They're seperate because they WANT to be. That's the fediverse for you. Not to mention that these instances would STILL have their own individual communities; which you would likely see across your feed at some point if you view "all" posts and not just local or subscribed. It's easier for you to just block them and call it a day.

    *Permanently Deleted*
  • I was going to switch from lemmy.world to lemmy.ml but disappointed that I'd be losing all my comment & post history. Not to mention you have to re-subscribe to all your communities again.

It's so much easier to comment on Lemmy because it isn't a toxic cesspool waiting to tear you apart
  • You could compare it to some subreddits that were private long before the API debacle.

They wanted to curate a very specific community (subreddit) and didn't want folks with differing opinions inside.

  • I feel like there isn't a "hive mind" on Lemmy like there was/is on Reddit. Even if just a few folks disagreed with your opinion on Reddit, everyone else felt like they HAD to downvote it too and then the next thing you know, you're being downvoted to oblivion. Here, it seems that folks actually respect your opinion whether or not they agree with it; and while you may get a few downvotes or more, people aren't afraid of upvoting your comment either.

Such a different vibe and I'm here for it!

    Are We Blocking Threads?
  • The admin of lemmy.world, @ruud@lemmy.world has voiced on Mastodon.world that we are not going to defederate from Threads just yet. He wants to "wait and see", which of course offers mixed feelings from folks.

Is Lemmy THE reddit alternative for you? Are you thinking about moving somewhere else?
  • I went as far as deleting my entire reddit post and comment history, and then I deleted my reddit account.

And it's funny because I've already spent more time on Lemmy than I ever did in 6 years on Reddit. Something about it just sucks you in.

  • Sometimes you can see the specific number of upvotes & downvotes on posts and other times you can't. Is this a community feature or an app bug?

1% rule: 1% of users actively create new content, while the other 99% only lurk.
  • I've historically been a lurker because I'm too lazy to comment most of the time. However, I've been trying to participate on Lemmy more than I did on Reddit in an effort to boost the fediverse and really turn this into the Reddit replacement that I want it to be.

Folks want to see an active community.

  • This Asklemmy and !asklemmy@lemmy.ml appear to be identical in purpose yet are hosted on two different Lemmy's. Do you guys have plans to merge into one?

Question is in the title. I'm trying to unblur NSFW posts on lemmy using my browser on PC. I have looked in settings and found an option to show NSFW content but that still doesn't unblur it. TIA.
