It's official: consoles cost as much as gaming PCs now
  • You could probably build something decent for CAD$1000. Canada computers often have massive discounts on a lot of items. US$700 to CAD$1000 is not that far apart. The console would probably still be more performant but the point is, the prices are not that far apart anymore.

  • That has been pretty much my life lately here in Ottawa. I'll take boring any day over busy, overcrowded cities.

  • People give me a weird look when I spell out dates like this. It's easier for me to say it that way and it's correct. I don't get why people are iffy about it

  • I'm looking for a meditation class that I can attend on a weekly (once or twice) basis. I found a lot of classes around that have a religious or philosophical flavor or ones that include yoga with meditation. I suffer from chronic pain and alexithymia and I feel like guided mindfulness meditation (Like the ones available through the Headspace app) to be very helpful. Anyone knows if there are any classes like that in the area?

New PostmarketOS Release: v24.06: The One With Over 250 Devices
  • I run it on my second phone, a OP6T. GNOME on mobile has improved a lot. The framerate is higher and the keyboard is more consistent. Auto rotate now works. I still wouldn't use it as my daily driver though since the camera still doesn't work, voice input with pipewire is very wonky and it still crashes every now and then. Random touch input bugs happen twice a day too, forcing me to reboot. It got so far but it still has a bit left to go.

GNOME Shell & Mutter Broke Their Good Faith With Ubuntu
  • A much needed feature gets released quicker than usual for the benefit of users and they complain about broken faith? They could have just delayed the release until they tested it thoroughly. Using that kind of wording makes me feel they're just in for the drama.
