Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android
  • The whole subsystem is being removed, so the Android container to run apks is going with it. Sad to see it go, although my usage went down quite a bit after moving away from 3rd party Reddit apps.

  • I believe you can install it on anything that supports KDE. PostmarketOS has it as an environment option. I've not tried it yet either, but I'm interested in a Linux TV Box alternative as well.

Xbox's new policy — say goodbye to unofficial accessories from November thanks to error '0x82d60002'
  • The 8BitDo stuff is what I had in mind as well. Everything I have from them has Xinput mode, and works great for PC Game Pass and Xcloud games. I was hoping that anything that supports Xinput would be available on the actual consoles, but walled garden.

Anyone else still using the Nook Simple Touch?
  • It is called nookZax. According to the readme it re-implements the interpreter used on Zax hardware for text games. Honestly I need to look into more of this myself, as I've never dealt with software that old directly.

Anyone else still using the Nook Simple Touch?
  • Still using mine as well. I used to browse Reddit and RSS feeds on it, but have gone back to just using it as an e-reader. I am planning to give that text game emulator a spin. I use ReLaunch, but I'm still on the system reader. How is AlReader? Is it worth the switch?

Eternity (formerly Infinity for Lemmy) is now on Google Play!
  • This is great to see! Definitely makes things easier for ChromeOS installs. Do you plan on periodically merging in changes from Infinity if they're worthwhile? Or upstreaming any of your changes?

    Fighting game stick recommendations?
  • The 8BitDo stick has been pleasant to use, and is compatible with a ton of systems. Why is it banned at tournaments? Wireless? Or something else non-standard about it?

Controversial Opinion (?) - The Ultra-Profiteering Economy of Ferenginar and Adherence to the Rules of Acquisition is the most stable and ethical expression of capitalism
  • I think you're on to something. Contemporary society claims to adhere to a higher moral compass, but then trashes it if a profit can be made. The Ferengi Alliance makes no such claim, so everyone is getting stabbed in the front - so to speak.
