  • Because at some point, the philosophical has to give way to the practical, unless you intend for your movement to be nothing more than an academic thought exercise. The unfortunate reality is branding matters. At a population level, no amount of explaining or reading suggestions is going to break through the preconceived notions people have about anarchism.

  • If nothing else, anarchists need to rebrand and come up with a new name for the same philosophy. "Anarchism" as a term has long been thoroughly poisoned. People who aren't deep into political theory at best dismiss it as an edge lord philosophy.

  • Yeah, it seems as though this person learned the buzzwords, but not the concepts. You are going to be using your labour regardless, so why would it not be preferable to use it directly for yourself? Of all the things capitalism promised, free stuff was never included.

  • How does a law explicitly interfering with first amendment rights not get immediately struck down as unconstitutional? Limiting free speech is not even an unintended theoretical side effect of the bill; it's the expressed purpose.

  • Honestly, it's so frustrating dealing with the people who want to stick their heads in the sand. Even if you don't believe the climate is changing, have you not noticed how the air has gotten less brown over major cities since coal plants were shut and car/truck emissions were at least reduced? Even if global warming weren't a thing, I'd very much prefer to not breath brown air.

  • Usually, companies will make their product say 25% cheaper to produce, then sell it to the public at a 20% discount (while loudly proclaiming to the world about that 20% price drop) and pocket that 5% increase in profits. So if OpenAI is dropping the price by x, it's safe to assume that the efficiency gains work out to x+1.
