What's the most polarizing thing you've ever done or said?
  • People considered woke often only focus on institutional racism and make every other form of racism seem unimportant, including those targeting so called "whites" / Europeans. (And I'm not trying to victimize perpetrators here, I'm aware of the current and historical situation in Western countries.)

I see that institutional racism is a huge problem, especially in the West, but that doesn't make any other form less important or significant.

For comparison: just because in sub-saharan Africa people starve on a daily basis due to extreme poverty caused by Imperialism doesn't mean that poverty inside industrial nations with less harsh effects is less of a problem, especially to the individual.

    BSD Vs. Linux
  • Thats when you're out of arguments, ladies and gentlemen.

The equivalent of facebook boomers reacting with a laugh emoji.

But seriously: several people in the BSD community use OpenBSD on the Desktop, Theo De Raadt also does in contrast to a lot of FreeBSD devs that use MacOS as a daily driver.

Don't know why you're so full of yourself when you clearly have no expertise on the subject.

    BSD Vs. Linux
  • You clearly don't know what you're talking about. OpenBSD is an absolutely legitimate Desktop OS and has no special use case. Its hardened and comparably slower than Net- and FreeBSD, but thats it . Guess you're an "expert".

    BSD Vs. Linux
  • I use OpenBSD as my daily driver on the desktop.

In my opinion Linux over the years got too caught up in politics and involved with big corporations having influence on certain non-trivial decisions.

But I also think the BSDs are better actual Operating Systems in contrast to Linux being only the kernel of which different projects make use of to provide their final products to the end user, its way more fractured.

People of lemmy, what was your “oh crap” moment?
  • Yesterday I was waiting for the Tram.

As I stood there, I turned my head to the right and witnessed how a pigeon was hit by a car.

Kinda traumatizing, especially when the cars that followed ran over and over the carcass.

How dare you use a text editor because it's easy to use
  • Vim actually IS easy to use once you get the hang of it, plus more comfortable and efficient.

Nanos just an excuse for lazyness, cmv.
