MOXO Test
  • Yep, without the numbers it’s hard to know for sure. If you have ADHD it’s possible it’s mild or your particular blend is a little better at testing. And yeah, the wait is pretty killer.

    MOXO Test
  • Did you make mistakes? If so, you might’ve made more mistakes than you think, or more mistakes than what’s considered neurotypical. Even if you didn’t make mistakes but took longer to process the info they put in front of you, that’ll help determine the results as well.

Ultimately it’s going to be hard to know for sure until you talk to your psych.

Just stumbled upon this game called Chicken Invaders
  • Ha, I remember playing that. I got in trouble and was grounded from playing computer games for a while. But one night my parents had friends over and I was bored. They felt bad and bent the rules slightly and let me play that game. Thanks for reminding me!

Dropped a paperclip on my laptop and it landed like this
  • Man, I was working a desktop support job when they first started to use magnets in the laptops for the closed lid mechanism. I was trying to set up a laptop and I for the life of me couldn’t get the screen to turn on.

After like an hour of trying to figure it out and a call to Dell support, I shifted the laptop and the screen turned on. Stupid laptop was so thin the magnet from the laptop under it was causing it to think it was closed.

  • Right, and for this election cycle Biden won’t be a candidate but Trump will. Trump is now an older candidate than Biden was when he was a candidate.

How Embracer's cuts killed a potential Red Faction sequel and gutted a promising studio.
  • Agreed. I enjoyed red faction guerrilla for the destruction but the open world always felt kind of empty. Armageddon was cool, but I wasn’t a fan of the linear gameplay.

A proper sequel would’ve made me so happy, but no, Embracer has to ruin everything it touches.

  • Change one letter and you get “cum passion”. That sounds like a sex thing. Are you trying to do inappropriate things to children in the basement of your pizza arcade that may or may not exist!?!

help me figure out a way help my players get out of the mess they're in without ruining their fun.
  • I’m no DM, but I’ll give it a shot. The cultists must’ve been holding the friend instead of killing them for a reason, right? What if the cultists need the prisoners for an occult type ritual but they still need a few items before it’s ready? That leads to the threat of death but gives them time to do something about it.

Or maybe they need information or a thing that’s dangerous to get and they’ll try to brainwash/blackmail them into doing whatever they want to get what they need.

The cultists suddenly have more prisoners than they did previously, so just need to figure how can the prisoners be more value alive than dead. There’s enough dumb villain TV tropes you can go off of where they could easily kill the hero but they don’t because they want them to watch the world burn or whatever.

    ADHD imposter syndrome at work
  • I work in IT, specifically desktop support. Over the last decade I’ve moved up into management and I’ve always had that feeling of things are going to fall to the ground any minute now. Everything is overwhelming and how can I possibly keep up. I just need to work faster. I decided to get tested when I moved into management and it got even harder to keep track of everything. I was diagnosed with combined adhd as well as moderate depression and anxiety maybe 6 months after that.

The thing that helped me most with getting a handle on my job has been medication, especially adderall/vyvanse (I like adderall better, but this ongoing shortage sucks). It can still be hard to concentrate, but I have a much easier time figuring out what needs to be done and being able to concentrate on that and somewhat ignore all the millions of other things that I need to pay attention to.

As long as you expect yourself to fail, it’ll eventually happen. Even if you’re doing a perfect job, you’ll burn yourself out with the stress of feeling like you’ll eventually fail. One thing that could help, if you don’t already, keep a task list as well. Even if it’s reminders of the things you need to do. I’ve found having that has helped me remember the next day or even later that same day the things I need to do.

What do you need to do to get from a provisional ADHD diagnosis to a full one? And have you mentioned to your doctor the anxiety you have for work?

Report says Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass added over $8,700 worth of new games in 2023
  • The problem is with DRM owning a physical copy of a recent game doesn’t mean squat. It also wasn’t a gap for older generations since CDs were a terrible medium to store and verify games since they scratch easy.

The fight will always be you want to own the thing you buy, and companies will want to stop people who didn’t buy it from using it. This fight has been going on since the original DOOM was freely passed around.
