  • I just handed my notice in to a job I tried to quiet quit, but failed at. Turns out I have too much guilt to just not work, and intentionally becoming shit at my job seems to feed the imposter syndrome in my brain. Anyway, I decided just to cut ties, and we are parting on good terms. I am working my last month now, and will be officially unemployed as of December 1st.

I am FUCKING THRILLED! For the first time in 25 years I'll be intentionally not working and not looking for work, and I'll also not struggle financially because of it. I plan to find a job in early 2025, but I'm gonna enjoy a few months to myself first. I'm gonna indulge in my hobbies, enjoy my home, my yard, take walks, have coffee on the deck, sleep in. I'm going to use my office for my own personal endeavors and explore starting my own software project.

I'm already dreading looking back at this period and wishing I was still in it.

It's Friday - What are your plans for the week-end?
  • I've got the itch to do some crafts. Hubs is away and the cleaners just came by so I've got the whole house to myself and barely any chores to get done. I might also start winterizing the yard.

How do adults find happiness in life?
  • Outdoor hobbies. I've got really into foraging, which has multiple benefits, I get to be outside, I get exercise, I learn new things which stimulates my brain, and if I'm lucky I also get free food (which is usually superior in taste and nutrition to store bought). I combine it with hiking, fishing, geocaching etc and if I'm alone I sometimes listen to music on my headphones. Once you start developing outdoor hobbies it's like you unlock an insanely intricate open world video game.

I just recently quit my job and it's got me thinking about app development around this idea.

Do any non-corpos actually like AI slop?
  • I built a spreadsheet for a client that sorts their email into threads and then segments various conversations into a different view based on shipment numbers mentioned in the conversations. But it's a lot of work to get something like this set up. Am thinking of going into consulting/implementation.

If you had a 1 year sabbatical, what would you do?
  • I just quit yesterday with nothing else lined up. Gonna take a WHOLE MONTH for healing (isn't it ridiculous how ridiculous that feels?) and then figure out my next move. I wanna build an app or something.

  • Normally I welcome people with different opinions, but I truly believe that people still following Trump are absolutely in the wrong. He is a foul, broken, weird human, and his goals are to fuck up all of our lives (yes, yours too) so that he and a dozen others can have money and power. This is as clear, proven, and obvious as it is reading the history books about prior dictators, so I have zero sympathy or respect for seemingly intelligent people who still support him.

So uh, welcome I guess, you do you, but I don't think we are gonna be your crowd.

He was a stray that distributed himself to my friend's house, but they have to do some adjustments so they can keep him isolated from their other cat for a while, so he's on vacation at ours. He's a complete lovebug and total derp.

Another first. Will be doing the nibble test tomorrow.

I liked the print as it was kinda retro colorful, so I sewed it into a bag with toggle closure and belt loops. The canvas belt is also a revived old belt I got 25 years ago. My mum made me the little labels (I had to edit my name off them for the internet!)

Butter and garlic, yep, it's delicious! Don't judge my filthy forager nails lol

...until recently, ramps (Allium tricoccum) have been a fairytale. I went to Vermont for a trip and my friend showed me her ramps field, although it was summer and they'd all died back to flowers. Well, hiking in an undisclosed location in east Tennessee today, I saw this. I rubbed my fingers on it and... YEP, RAMPS. Further down the trail it got completely boombastic with them. This is a random trailhead off a main road, so I suspect I've got a good chance of snagging a respectable harvest next season. So exciting.

My 12 year old cat was going crazy by the window, I looked expecting to see a squirrel, and instead saw this pintsized nugget cowering between the glass and the screen. No chip, no snip, covered in fleas, and very hungry. We got her sorted with the routine medicals and brought her home to look after her while we find her forever home. The grumpy old man cat seems to have warmed to her, and I'm REALLY hoping they don't bond because we don't need a fourth!

I get signs telling you there's a bump ahead, or deer might run out in front of you, but I've never understood why there are signs telling people not to build unlawful driveways. Are that many people doing it on a daily basis in that area that they need a fully visible sign? Surely it's just an ordinance, why does it need a road sign?

I've been wondering this for years and hope someone has an answer that makes sense.

Read at your own risk, as some reviewers wrote, you can't unknow things once you learn them, and this movie's description is all of the terrible things.

I have gas from eating lots of bread, which is not unusual, but for some reason today's farts hurt my ass.

They're not those super hot farts, they're just really... pressurized? They come out loud and proud and it feels kinda violent. Any ideas?

I didn't get any sickies, just a stank face.
