What singer just blows your mind when they sing?
  • Myles Kennedy. Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeet, that man can sing...

I've seen him live (with Alter Bridge) a couple of times, and it has just blown me away hearing his live performance be as good as if not better than the studio versions.

A rant about quick time events
  • Oh shit, I had forgotten all about the Infamous games. That was some strong implementation of QTE for sure.

But let's be honest. Those are kind of the exception to the rule :-)

A rant about quick time events
  • Exactly!

What? Is it supposed to make me feel powerful that I can smash a button a gazillion times to hold back a train from falling off the rails? Just so it as a cinematic - I don't need to be involved in every little thing!

  • I just finished Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

I've always been quite into the Uncharted-series, but never got around to playing LL. Now was the time.

And my god, how I hated much of it.

Now, I know the game is getting old. But shit, it got on my nerves. Janky movement, quite possibly the most stupid NPC AI (friends and foes alike) and! The god damned quick time events.

Why oh why in the name of everything holy am I "forced" to sit and repeatedly mass the square or triangle button to lift a door, move a leaver, push some freaking branches aside, kick some rubble, spank a pony. Well, maybe not that last one.

And sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row.

    Why? Why, god damn it?

Who in their right mind finds it to be a wise gameplay choice to have me pushing the same button over and over again like a lunatic? It's not even a combo like in the good old Tekken days. IT'S THE SAME FREAKING BUTTON OVER AND OVER!

Sorry. Just had to get it off my chest.

  • Saw this comment pretty late. Lemmy has been acting up - sorry! But while the wait will be hard and all, filming has already begun, so I don't hope the writers strike has done too much in that regard :-)

  • That's funny. I though the same thing too! Poison in the respirators, and the tape switch was to get a worse seal to give her time to get out of the suit. There i was, saying "come on, get it off!" right up until the birds came flying...

I had it all backwards 😂

What do you do with too dark tv shows and movies?
  • I think it's way worse on my new oled than it ever was on my old led - it had much lower contrast and nowhere near as dark shadows. Which - again - looks amazing on the vast majority of what I've seen on it so far. But especially See on AppleTV+ is almost umwatchable

  • Hey guys and gals!

I was wondering how you feel about - and deal with - really dark tv shows? I'm talking about dark in the context of light emitted, not feelings ;-)

I'm watching See, and while I do appreciate blind people not having a lot of lights turned on at all times, I'm finding it almost unbearable to watch because of how dark it is at times.

I'm having to bump my TV settings up - which is kind of a hassle as I had it really nicely calibrated (damn I love oled by the way) - just to have to turn it back down (and hope to remember those settings) not to get blinded when I watch anything remotely normally illuminated.

I remember this being a topic in the last seasons (or season) of Game of Thrones too - but back then I had an old TV with bad contrast anyway, so I wasn't hit that hard by it.

How do you feel about too dark tv shows and movies? And how do you deal with it?

  • Regarding your last question, I think it's "just" a totalitarian approach to not wanting people researching too much on their own and gathering to much knowledge about how things work and in the end being able to develop unwanted skills.

  • The strike wasn't the only problem though. There's apparently been quite some trouble between the show runner and head writer, I believe, that delayed the production even before the strike.

Really hoping it doesn't show in the final product. Season 2 of Severance is my most anticipated seasons of a TV show for years.

  • I'm willing to bet that the big door at the bottom is access to the other silos.

I'm also quite sure that Holston is probably dead. Along with everyone else, that went outside.

I had this thought last night, after seeing the finale. What if the other silos are open to each other, and only Silo 18 (I'm guessing it the number based on the key to the mainframe having number 18 on it) is closed off / isolated? Maybe because of it being the origin of the rebellion? As some sort of sanction. Or maybe to contain The Syndrome - whatever that even is.

I know it's far fetched. But who knows? (Other than the millions of people who've read the books, of cause ;-))

  • First post on here had to be this:

I just watched the last episode of the first season of Silo on AppleTV+, and now I can't wait for season 2.

I'll keep from spoiling in the post, but be warned: there will probably be some in the comments!

So - did any of you see it yet? What do you think?

I'm thinking about starting the books. Just to get more from this universe.
