Is there any way to emulate aegis authenticator (fdroid) on an ubuntu based computer?
  • I don't understand the scenario here. Typically, you only need the TOTP (time-based one-time password) from your 2FA app, enter it on your computer, and you can use the computer to access your resources. The app itself is actually not even supposed to be on the same device, as an added layer of security.

It sounds like you need 2FA to run your company's VPN (is that correct?). On your computer, you would launch the VPN, it'll ask you for the TOTP (which you get from Aegis on your phone), and then you're logged in and able to access company resources (on your computer).

  • Have you found the content to be reliable/trustworthy? Last I looked, it was just full of uploaded-yesterday highly suspicious links.

  • What are you the cia? fry

For movies (rip rarbg) I use TorrentLeech
    For music I use Soulseek
    For books I use irc.irchighway.net #ebooks

I recently purchased a Usenet subscription+indexer to plug up any gaps, and it seems to be a pretty good option as well (although not free).

For software, I just try to always go open source when I can, and I don't really pirate games. I find executables to just be too risky.

    any advice on organising songs
  • MusicBee can help you organize your songs. Import the files to your library, make sure the tags are correct, and then Tools -> Organize Files

Western Digital, SanDisk Extreme SSDs don’t store data safely, lawsuit says
  • Same here -- had one at a previous job and thought it was great. Got another one for my current job, and just bought another one for my Dad. I think the takeaway here is what we've always known though, which is to never trust your storage solutions. As long as there's multiple copies, I think it's okay to continue using them.

What are your favorite add-ons for Firefox?
    • Checker Plus for Gmail - Great way for me to see incoming emails in multiple inboxes, and mark as read/unread or respond
    • Open With - quickly open a webpage in another browser
    • SponsorBlock for YouTube - skips ads and sponsor segments in YouTube videos
    • uBlock Origin - The best adblocker
    • Video Speed Controller - Allows you to change the speed of a video, outside the normally allowed range (some slower videos are much better at 3x)
    • Snap Links - Lets you draw a rectangle and opens all links inside. Great for checking out a list of links, like the links in this comment, for example
