Greta’s school strikes led 30% of Swiss citizens to change habits
  • @Badewaschel @SolNine

Hmm. Well, people are bombarded ever day with intense advertising that links their with with commodities. The pressure is intense. Anyone who has had to buy trainers for their kids will tell you.

Personally, I think I need a new bike.

We just hit 1.5 C above per-industrial levels for the first time.
  • @fatalError @tryptaminev

Hydrogen doesn't work and nuclear is too expensive CCS also doesn't work.

Renewables work and are cheap and easy to install. Combine them with battery in a SunWindBattery system and maybe a bit of hydro and we have enough energy.

    There are so many solutions.

But instead we are using gas and burning oil. Politicians and fossil fuel companies obstruct renewables and other climate mitigation

Because profit is more important than human survival.

What Modi won’t show the G20: Muslims killed, harassed by the police and abused in school
  • @BakedGoods @xuxebiko

We should be careful about bothsidism. The Muslims who suffer racist violence in India are rarely violent cultists. They are everyday people trying to live their lives and look after their families. Just like us.

Assuming Biden wants to do anything about the CCP or Modi.

These regimes are useful to US, extending neoliberalism in India and cheap manufacturing for US companies in China. A little bit of ethnonationalism has never been a concern to US foreign policy.

Compared to other regimes supported by the US, such as Saudi Arabia, both Modi and the CCP are quite liberal regimes.

Well, NASA supported a privatised (but publically funded) space industry and the skies are full of shiny metal detritus and we have an idiot in charge who shares his time between defending anti-semitism and interfearing in global conflicts.

    1.3m EV could store 1.3million x 50kwh = 65gwh

The UK uses 28gwh on an average day

It seems to add up quite well. These guys looked at it.
