Yet another thinly veiled stealth lay-off by a technology company. Amazon’s cloud boss Matt "The Prat" Garman will indeed see some departures, as intended and desired. However, that first wave will be of their most talented, who feel confident they will land on their feet elsewhere, leaving those that simply cannot leave (yet) or those that will cozily under perform. When Amazon applies the inevitable followup reductions (subjectively based on their internal review process) to remove the latter, and the former buckle under the load or also leave, Amazon will be left with lower-middle talent at best.
The more I see of business "strategy" among this layer of "leadership", the more I'm convinced it is just a game of Jenga with talent, resources, infrastructure, security, quality, etc; pulling out as many pieces as possible in the drive for short term/sighted gains until a company collapses under its own dysfunctional "efficiency" and "success".
Remove the word "luxury" from marketing material, and cut the price in half. The world needs more electric Model Ts, not environmental-esque virtue signalling for a minority of drivers.
Court "ordered" end to a strike generally means that any contractual, union or legal protections workers have are forfeited if the strike continues (i.e. folks can be fired, benefits lost, even sued in some cases). This is not uncommon in regimes where the judicial system has been compromised (USA, Israel, etc). That being said... be a real shame if productivity of non-striking workers were to mysteriously plummet to effectively non-existent levels. ;-)
Finish the book, George.
OP's original post/questions, in case you're curious. They have quite the history of posting and commenting, receiving substantial downvotes and then deleting or obfuscating. Verdict, troll or puppet account.
In unrelated news, Georgia Court of Appeals sporting all new luxury RVs.
Not without buying a lot of folks RVs, at least. #SCROTUS

Fixed that title for you, Verge.
Why the closed doors? To quote their own rhetoric, if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear. Oh right, he's probably bringing receipts from their boss, Putin.
From a group of people that thinks transparency is having a set list of prices for their rulings.
If they left for that reason, they weren't visiting you, they were visiting your internet connection. :-(

Any update on this bug? The imgur hack is fine for image-only posts, but kind of dead in the water for image + url posting.
Same here. Started sporadically for me starting yesterday. At some point today it became 100% regardless of cache, platform or browser.
Apparently some earlier models of their batteries had a user accessible hatch to change fuses, so I'm inclined to think they intentionally moved from a repairable to non-repairable model.
Rad City support could not or would not explain how my battery might have stopped working, but would only say it was "not covered by warranty". They could also not explain what sort of causes of battery failure were covered by their warranty. It was pretty clear they just didn't want to cover the expense of honoring their warranty (the battery is probably one of the single most expensive parts on their bikes).
On my RadCity 5 Plus, it was a 10 amp red mini-blade fuse. I had a "variety pack" in my car that I'd gotten at a local auto part store, but looked it up any way, just in case. This may be different on other models/batteries. Ironically, it did require a warranty voiding opening on the battery casing. :-)
Almost got scammed by Rad Bikes this way. Battery mysteriously failed 10 months into their 1 year warranty. Rad Bikes accused me of sabotaging the battery and refused to honor their warranty, but "generously" offered me free shipping on a $300+ replacement battery. Turns out the off-the-rack fuse they use blew; identical down to the manufacturer to the ones used in cars. Replacement fuse was <20 cents and fixed the problem instantly.
US Healthcare Industry would like a word...
Is there anything like /r/listentothis on lemmy.world or elsewhere in the federated lemmy-verse? I need to be exposed to music that I'd normally not find otherwise. :-)
I have roughly a twenty players in our extended group to pull from, and any time 4-6 are available, I'd like to run a single-session adventure in my campaign. We use Discord for general communicating between sessions, but juggling all the available/not-available messages is tedious (especially when they are subject to change), and Google Calendar isn't cutting it.
Anyone know of a good tool, with low overhead to let each player mark available dates and times a few weeks in advance, so we can lock in our sessions? Ideally:
- WordPress plugin or Discord bot (our campaign tools are in a self-hosted site). Not a deal breaker though.
- Very easy to use. While I am, not all our players are technological adept or used to scheduling/meeting tech.
- Allows dates and times
- Allows each player to change their availability
- Allows each player to add a few notes/comments
