Do you usually purchase digital or physical books? Why?
  • I have! But unfortunately, I had the same result as if it were my phone/tablet. I really wish I understood why it was like this for me so I could maybe work on it, but I guess I'm just one of those "need-to-physically-turn-the-page" people :/

Are you registered to donate your organs? Why or why not?
  • I'm registered to donate, they won't take them unless I get an expensive genetic test. My brother just passed away, and they wouldn't let him donate anything because we had an aunt a couple of generations ago who had Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (a prion disease that causes dementia)

Do you usually purchase digital or physical books? Why?
  • I've tried digital books, but I've found that physical books work much better for my brain. I retain more information and can "get lost" in the story, whereas, for some inexplicable reason, digital books being read on a screen kind of "flatten" a story for me. It's almost like a 3d vs 2d experience for me.

Which U.S. state has the worst roads? My vote is for Illinois.
  • Hi neighbor! Wisconsinite here to throw our hat in the ring. I used to live on a residential road in the Milwaukee area that had a sign on either end that said "Rough Road". It was permanently installed. There were asphalt patches on top of patches that had been used to patch older patches. Half the patches turned to potholes, and then they ran out of patch money. But apparently had just enough left in the budget for signs.

I moved to across town to another suburb of Milwaukee, and the new street I live on partially caved in right beside my neighbor's driveway

Which U.S. state has the worst roads? My vote is for Illinois.
  • I drove through Nebraska one time, and the only thing I remember is how bad that state smelled. "Industrial Rot" was the best way I could describe it

What is the most unusual spirit you have in your home bar?
  • I have an unopened bottle of Seagrams from 1946, and a bottle of Old Forester from 1953, where time + the VERY heavy glass stopper cracked the plastic seal and broke the cork. Both belonged to my better half's grandfather

What opened your eyes to what's happening in Palestine?
  • 20+ years ago, when I was a freshman in high school, a Palestinian refugee joined our class. He mentioned off-handedly how quiet it was where we lived at night - he was used to hearing rockets/bombs all night while trying to sleep.

    Then I started reading.

  • A black cat sitting on the floor looks up expectantly at a woman's hand, which is holding a slice of pepperoni pizza with a bite taken out of it.

    Inspired by Grimm's pizza post
