Google won’t repair cracked Pixel Watch screens
  • Another Venu 2 owner here. It is great, does what I want from a smart watch(notifications, calender, heart rate, sleep and some other stuff), ties in nicely with the Garmin cycle computer I own, and allows for tracking between the two. And I get 3 - 4 days(or more depending on how much I am using it to record activities) in a single charge. I do kinda wish I had gone for a forerunner, but I dont wear it when cycling and it tracks walks and runs and everything else under the sun perfectly well.

Definitely recommend a Garmin if it fits your needs.

The Unity Games That Could be Impacted Most by Controversial Fees, From Silksong to Cult of the Lamb - IGN
  • You can cancel, and stop selling the game, which is what Cult of the Lamb is threatening to do(and others should do if this actually goes ahead). But if you continue to use and sell your game, you have to agree to the new terms and conditions.

  • Because it is a subscription service. It is not actually a product you buy outright. It is still bullshit, and should probably be illegal to change to charging for installs though.

  • I think my biggest issue with this thread is the bikes they are referring too are actually Electric Motorbikes(and should be treated like any other motorbike), not an "ebike" in the typical sense of Pedal Assist Bicycle.

  • I do agree with most of your post, and the whole your average cyclist doing "30 mph without much trouble" is ridiculous. I do think you are underestimating how fast road bikes can be though.

You are not reaching 30mph unless you are fully sprinting on a descent with a gravel bike (maybe a mountain bike if it’s a long, long, stretch) or have a road bicycle on a flat/slight slope and you are full sending it (even on a flat road I’m assuming, I’ve never ridden one). Not to mention these people will be using protective gear

So, on a road bike, it is pretty easy on the flat to keep 20mph/32kmh. 30mph/48kmh is definitely an effort and not one that is sustainable for most people. To give you an idea, I did a charity bike ride in June which was just shy of 100 miles, it was 158.3km with 1667m of climbing as well, so not completely flat. I averaged 31.2kmh. I am in no way fast, I am alright on the flat but gravity is a cruel mistress on an uphill.

Downhill is a different thing as well, I have hit speeds of around 62mph/100kmh, and a hill near me will almost always spit me out doing 55mph/89kmh with 0 effort(roll down the hill and sit on the drops), and that is on both my road and gravel bikes. But that is probably steeper than you are thinking. However, there is also a pretty steady -1% average "downhill", it is a false flat, but it is really easy to cruise along at 25mph/40kph+.

Gen Z is ditching iPhones for $100 'feature phones,' and the numbers don't lie
  • Eh, I don't like the idea of getting rid of my smart phone. But I did get rid of all the shit I didnt actually like. I use my phone for Music, maps, the camera, messaging a few people, and a few other things. I got rid of all the crap social media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, even reddit(and have not put a lemmy/kbin app on there to replace it), there is not shit mobile games installed. Just does what I need it to do, and doesnt constantly bug me about Person X and what they had for lunch.

However, if I ditched the smart phone, I would need a phone still, but then I still need the MP3 player, a camera. And I would much rather have 1 bit of kit that does all that well, than 3 items.

Google Play Games - Play Android games on PC
  • You can see all the games here - https://play.google.com/googleplaygames/allgames

From what I could see there was basically nothing of note. Maybe Jetpack Joyride if you want to indulge some 12 year old mobile game.

is there no $59.99 vesion of Baldurs Gate for PS5?
  • I kinda dislike this excuse for the higher prices these days.

While it was pretty valid for the PS3 era and before, the PS4 and the PS5 have both been sold at profit well within the first year. This is just a console tax to make more money from people.

    https://www.pcmag.com/news/sony-says-499-ps5-no-longer-sells-at-a-loss

    PS4 - 6 months to be profitable
PS5 - 8 months to be profitable(despite the chip shortages as well).

  • So quick break down is:

OS and programs on NVME 1, this also includes gamepass games. NVME 2 is Steam games and other launchers that might be installed.

HDD1 is downloads, pictures, music and documents, HDD2 is Videos.

  • Tip for making Gale(or any wizard) learn scrolls. If you open up his spell book, then is a small button that opens a new menu(I think it is an open book with a flame, it is early in the morning for me), and it lists all the scrolls you can learn that you have, tick all the boxes, and then the pay the money. Took me 1 minute to spend over 3000 gold learning spells.

  • My PC has 4TB of NVME storage(2 drives), and then 8TB of HDD space(another 2 drives).

Games, and actual used stuff all live on the NVMEs, with things like Pictures and Videos stored on the HDDs. Plenty of space to never have to really think about what to keep installed.

I also have a 512GB Steam Deck, which also has a 256GB SD Card in it. My Switch also has a 256GB SD card in it as well.

The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion - 17-08-2023
  • Street Fighter 6 - Still playing everyday and this iteration of Street Fighter is so much fun. Pushing on through Diamond with Marisa now, really enjoying her playstyle and trying to get slightly better every day.

Baldurs Gate 3 - Finally pushed into Act 2, so far it has been a very interesting act, definitely having fun exploring both the area and the dialogue options, with some very interesting combat happening. This game is kinda dominating my play time, and I don't feel like I will have time to play much else for a while, which is nice. Really looking forward to a Dark Urge play though when I am finished with this first run.

    Madden should not be 70$
  • So you think they should pay more than twice as much than they currently are?

Madden isnt worth $70 a year. Let alone the $156 you seem to be suggesting.

Okay, be honest, how many of you actually have cars?
  • After my Dad passed away, and I no longer needed it for looking after him or sorting out things after he passed. I sold my car. I cycle a lot, and prefer getting around by bike, and now I dont have all the expenses that come with owning a car. Especially when it doesnt get used and is sat there rotting away.

PC Game Recommendation for a Broken Arm?
  • BG3 is such an easy recommend. Not only is it easy to play mouse only, it is also turn based combat, hugely story and decsion driven, and very very capable of giving you choice paralysis so you have plenty of reasons to come back with something different.
