I had some fun messing around with that remake they recently did. I unlocked all the levels in three and got most of the challenges done. I'm more of a Skate guy to be honest. Skate 2 and Skate 3 are all-time greats for me. The new skate game that is free to play is the biggest piece of shit I've ever played. It makes me so mad every time I think about it. Been waiting on that game for like a decade and they absolutely shit all over it and us. They absolutely ruined it.
No I'm not upset at all about it I always have steam coming out of my ears.
I'm definitely going to play 1 & 2. The love for them is overwhelming. I wonder if I'll feel differently than others due to playing 3 first. That'll be interesting to find out.
I keep thinking about picking up one of those small emulation devices but I keep coming back to the same thing... My phone is probably just as powerful and I already own it. It's a little annoying to have to have a controller to play, though.
I have all my emulators up to ps2 on my phone and they run great in high resolution. I'm struggling to find a need for one of those aside from "I want it." Lol
Wow, I didn't know about all that for RoboCop. If I'm honest, I've never actually watched the movies. I know... I know. I should have by now. Especially considering I'm a big fan of dystopian cyberpunk type stuff. Maybe after I give it a watch I'll be more interested in the game.
I've heard about No Mercy being the king of the hill, but I haven't tried it either. Warzone was... not great. lol. I much preferred WCW-NWO Revenge of the two. Those are the only two I owned back in the day, so I mainly boot them up for nostalgia purposes.
When you say No Mercy has a modding community, are you talking about a PC release of some sort or romhacks?
It's difficult not to extrapolate the U.S's current trajectory to something approximating Taliban-rule. It feels like it relative to what the old-normal was.
Very nice! I tried to play Hollow Knight a while back while I was exploring 2D games. I think it was right after I finished Elden Ring, now that you mention it. The mechanics and platforming felt amazing, but the setting just didn't speak to me. These aren't really the kind of games I have been drawn to in my life, so it was definitely out of my wheelhouse, but it was getting such acclaim I figured I owed it to myself to at least try it.
Maybe I'll go back to it one day and give it another shot.
Glad to have you here to chat with us! I tried to play RoboCop twice now, but couldn't get into it the way I had hoped. It seemed like a really well-made game, but I think that either I wasn't in the right headspace for it at the time or maybe it's just not quite what I'm looking for. It's one of those games I feel like I should like, but just don't yet.
I'm getting so many recommendations to go back and play Max Payne 1 & 2 that I'm going to prioritize them in my next round of games.
As for wrestling games, the two I owned were WCW-NWO Revenge (N64) and WWF Warzone. Both were interesting and I still go back and play them every once in a while through emulation. I really like the mechanics for WCW-NWO Revenge. It's the best implementation of grapple controls I've played in a wrestling game. The rest is a bit rough around the edges, though.
I have fond memories of playing AC in Walmart when they used to have the demos in the electronics section you'd have to break your neck to play because the monitors were so high. After the great experience I had playing Elden Ring (my first souls-like), I decided to jump into ACVI when it came out. What a great game. I still haven't beaten it, as I just haven't been in the mood to play lately, but I intend on finishing it at some point soon.
I literally just installed and started playing TXR myself. I'm a racing game freak and I had never tried the series before. Figured it was time after seeing the HokiHoshi video on it. I mainly do sim racing, but it's nice to play some arcade every once in a while. I've been getting my fix with Dirt 2 and NFSU2 underground2.net mod.
I find it funny how I seemingly randomly decide to play an old game and then find out a bunch of others picked it up around the same time as me. I wonder why that is? Maybe we all got inspired by watching the same video that included a clip or something. Who knows?
But yeah, I'm really enjoying it too. This is my second playthrough. I beat it once a long time ago when I bought it, but don't remember much about it. I'm trying to collect all the golden gun parts on this playthrough. I have like 5 or 6 of the guns done. I currently at the escort part right after the bus escape.
Yeah you're light years ahead of me. I'm still figuring out new strategies and stuff. Like, there are certain hands I pretty much never play because it never seems to line up for me. Straight flushes, four of a kind, and trips are the hands I play the least. But I'm finding new ways to increase my score all the time through combinations and different ordering of jokers. It's been really fun to discover.
