If i am honest i got other messages tell me it is a left propaganda machine, if we sum it up its a center propaganda machine. For me all this, screams just bad faith.

  • Hello World, As many of you have probably noticed, there is a growing problem on the internet when it comes to undisclosed bias in both amateur and professional reporting. While not every outlet can be like the C-SPAN, or Reuters, we also believe that it's impossible to remove the human element from the news, especially when it concerns, well, humans.

To this end, we've created a media bias bot, which we hope will keep everyone informed about WHO, not just the WHAT of posted articles. This bot uses Media Bias/Fact Check to add a simple reply to show bias. We feel this is especially important with the US Election coming up. The bot will also provide links to Ground.News, as well, which we feel is a great source to determine the WHOLE coverage of a given article and/or topic.

As always feedback is welcome, as this is a active project which we really hope will benefit the community.

    Thanks!

We did this action with the cooperation of the mods in c/world and c/worldnews.

    Heyo,

i swapped to Pop!_os 2 days ago ( from linux mint, because i wanted some change and found pop_os ) and i like it!

I have just few points that i would like to share:

    • That the displays scaling cant be changed per monitor untilthe activation of "Fractial Scaling" ( just as a beginner "weird" behaviour )

    • You cant disable / make the "Active window" border smaller.

    • You cant hide the top bar ( but thats acceptable as it hides itself if you are in full screen )

    • Customizability/Lack of keybinds ( for example move active window to Screen 1,2,3 with Super + 1,2,3,4 )

    • (The pop_store lags? sometimes if i search? idk if its just a known bug or if its something on my side?) )

But its still very good and it has some cool features and simple installation!

Thanks for the System76 devs for making such great OS!

    Hello!

If anyone could recommend me some cool / interesting software, that would be cool.

    Thanks

    Hello everybody!

As announced in the last weekly update we are proud to open the doors to the event area of this years halloween building contest!

In spawn you will see a portal (to hell) where you get teleported to the event area. There you can see more informations and the area where you can build.

Everybody gets some starting coins. ( 400 credits ) So that you dont go empty out of it if you have claimed something during the event. To claim those ask a mod or admin.

    See you there!

Here are some interesting information / tips for the Minecraft Server!

    Protect your stuff with griefprevention

Simply do /claim or place a chest or use a golden shovel ( use /kit Claimtools for it ) Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDsjXB-BaE0

    I get spawn camped.

Even if its illegal to spawn camp you should not cry around for every single small problem. If he keeps 24/7 spawn camping, please report him. Just use /rtp, it will send you somewhere in the wilderness.

I want to talk with someone.

On the official Lemmy World Discord and Matrix there are dedicated Minecraft channels. On discord you can join public voice lobbies.

    The Server is full

Yeah as we dont have a threadripper on the server we limit the ammount of users to a maximum 30. If we see a steady full server we will look into upgrading. But for now 30 should be enough!

    Plugins installed:

    • https://essentialsx.net/

Here are some Questions and Answers:

Q: Java or Bedrock? A: Both (Bedrock version is untested, let us know please! )

Q: Someone griefed my house A: You should have protected it with Griefprevention ( /claim )

Q: Someone harasses me or cheats. A: Either create a post here asking for help or dm @Rooki@lemmy.world ( discord or element too ) last resort could be the admins of Lemmy.world. For reports please add evidence and not just say "he cheated in front of me!!"

Q: I got banned, where can i appeal. A: For Temporary Bans, you cant, wait your time out. Permanent Bans can be appealed after 1 week.

Q: I accidentally dropped my diamond pickaxe into the void/lava/disposal bin. A: You can craft yourself a new pickaxe

Q: I got scammed A: Should have made more sure if the seller is trustworthy. ( or make secured trading station )

Q: Someone traps you with a player warp A: Screenshot where you at and screenshot the warp in /pw menu

If you have even more questions let us know in the comments, we will probably answer them.

Every Minecraft Server has some rules, this server is no exception!

The Rules build upon the official Lemmy.world rules.

    Additionally Minecraft Rules:

    PVP related:

    • PVP is enabled BUT should be the last resort.
    • PVP has to be with mutual consent!
    • Spawn Camping is not allowed!
    • Trapping People is NOT allowed!
    • If you fight, keep others out of it. ( Dont kill inocent people )
    • If you want war. It has to be with mutual consent.

    Building related:

    • Griefing is not allowed.
    • But if you build anything unprotected its your issue, not ours. ( You can claim spots it with a wooden hoe )
    • Trapping claims/users is not allowed.
    • Abusing the claim system will result in a ban
    • If you dont use your claimed spots it will get force abandoned by admins.

    Other:

    • Trading is not secured in any way. Create yourself a trading station or just "trust" each other.

    Summarized:

Be friendly, dont attack without a consent, dont grief

Its an ad for a energy company. I hoped it would never happen but here we go. Ads on the canvas. Either those are bots because they are hyper active and many.

Thought this is a user canvas not advertisment canvas.

edit: Its the political party "Volt Europa" that is even more worse.

Good to know this is a political advertisement campaign board. A better note for next time.

I am done here. But keep in mind you ( @ Volt voters ) your ad isnt welcomed here.

    Lemmy Bot Best (Coding) Practices

Because of the increasing amount of Bots on lemmy and there is not (yet) a written Best (Coding) Practices post i want to make such Guideline.

The bot is required to follow the instances rules.

    Guidelines

    General Guidelines

    1. Bots should stagger their calls to different endpoints to reduce the strain on the server

For example, instead of calling all three endpoints (Posts, Comments, and Reports) every 30 seconds, you could call Posts every 30 seconds, Comments every 35 seconds, and Reports every 45 seconds. This would spread out the load on the server and prevent it from becoming overloaded.

    2. Bots should only fetch data that they really need.

For example, a spell-checking bot does not need to fetch reports. This will help to reduce the amount of data that your bot needs to store, which will improve performance.

    3. Bots should use a cache to store data that is required more often than 30 seconds.

This will improve performance and the strain to the server by reducing the number of times that your bot needs to fetch the data from the server.

    4. Bots should remove unused data from their database on a regular basis.

This will free up space and improve performance.

    5. Bots should be crash-safe, meaning that they should be able to recover from unexpected errors.

This can be done by using error handling techniques and by storing important data in a way that can be easily recovered and use a Backoff system to increase the retry time until it reaches a limit to stop completly.

    6. Bots should add a delay to API-heavy commands and actions.

This will help to prevent the server from becoming overloaded.

    7. Bots should not connect to multiple instances at a time.

This can cause conflicts and errors.

    8. Bots should secure their servers.

This includes using strong passwords and keeping their software up to date.

    9. If you are unsure if your bot is working properly, you should contact your local instance

admin. They can help you to troubleshoot any problems.

    10. Bots should ignore other bots for commands or DMs.

    This helps to prevent loops.

    11. Bots should only fetch the communities that they should interact with.

This helps to reduce load on the server.

    12. Global bots should be opt-in or have an opt-out feature.

This gives users control over whether or not they want to interact with your bot.

    13. Bots should have the Bot flag activated AND include the word "bot" or other bot-related words in their name.

This helps users to identify your bot and understand its purpose.

For Improvment ideas leave a comment!
