  • Same here in Spain. A lot of talking about "we must leave NATO and the EU" and "America bad" but then when push comes to shove, like now with the Ukraine War, they all rally behind NATO and support the NATO narrative. The Podemos motherfuckers (which includes the Communist Party, yes its that revisionist, eurocommunism killed it) literally did a standing ovation for Zelenski the piece of shit nazi. We are sending millions of euros in weapons to neonazis, but its ok because russia man bad. Oh whats that, you need welfare to not starve? Sorry, no money left for that. Fucking social fascists. Where are you from?

  • For real. Then they have the gull to sing The Internationale at their rallies. Literally the definition of social fascism.

  • XD new book coming soon

  • Chomsky is worse than BE though. BE doesnt say "akchually the collapse of the USSR was a good thing" thank god. He also doesnt say the good ol "USSR was state capitalist" bs

  • Yeah he mocked BayArea as "a LARPer" for some reason. Hes so dumb sometimes.

  • I know right? Like on latin american politics he always gets it right, calling out the coups in Bolivia and Venezuela and the bs about "muh Maduro/Morales authoritarian". But somehow with China and Russia he doesnt say the same thing. He supported the Hong Kong protests and supports Ukraine now, calling Putin a "murderous evil bastard". He also loves ranting about "stalinists". Are anglos just permanently brainwashed or what?

  • The Great Purge was real, but not how the west claims. At that time, the USSR was under threats from all sides. Nazi and polish intelligence had infiltrated the highest ranks of the soviet state. Same with reactionary groups, such as anticommunists, mensheviks and trotskists, who often collaborated with nazi and polish intelligence. First Sergei Kirov was murdered, which launched The Moscow Trials, which uncovered a vast network of spies and trotskists trying to destabilize the USSR. Seeing this, Stalin ordered NKVD head Nikolai Yezhov to begin purges to root out all these enemy elements. Keep in mind that the USSR was preparing for the eventual war with Nazi Germany. The problem was that Yezhov himself was a nazi and polish agent. He decided to begin mass purges, forced confessions and extrajudicial executions against innocent people in order to create popular anger against Stalin and destabilize the soviet government. This went on for about a year, until Stalin found out about this, removed Yezhov as head of the NKVD and appointed Lavrenti Beria, who prosecuted all those involved with this including Yezhov and stopped the purges. So yes many innocents were killed during The Great Purges but not on Stalins orders. Also many guilty people were killed to protect the USSR and socialism.

To learn more on this i recommend Grover Furr's books, he debunks many of the "stalinist crimes". "Yezhov vs Stalin" by Grover Furr is specifically about the great purges. Then you also have "Blood Lies" and "Khrushchev Lied" also by Grover Furr, which debunk more general antistalin myths, including also the great purges but in less detail. You can download all of Grover Furrs books, including the 3 i mentioned, in ebook (epub) format for free here: https://it.es1lib.org/book/12078299/732fa9

  • She lives in Poland, however she often stays here in Spain (where i live) for months because her son, who is a successful investigative scientist, lives and works here (which is how i know her). I dont think she was involved directly with Solidarnosc, although it is possible that she supported it. For more context, she was from a former small-middle bourgeois family. An uncle of hers owned several companies in Australia and in fact illegally left PRL in the 1950s to continue his bourgeois life in Australia. She claims they were watched closely by the police for their family history. She also claims she wanted to study medicine at university but wasnt allowed again for her family history. She worked as a worker in a butter factory, which she says was very mismanaged, with most people spending half of their workday doing nothing. Also idk if geography correlates with politics in Poland, but in case it does shes from a small village near Poznan.

I dont think this was a friend of a friend though. She detailed her friend telling her he had been handcuffed and restrained in uncomfortable positions for many hours. Also sleep deprivation, threats and repetitive interrogations at random hours of the night. Although again im not sure how reliable any of this information is since another time she told me that "in PRL, if you made an anticommunist joke you would be disappeared to Siberia" xD.

How old are you? Did you live through PRL? Id love to hear a first hand account of PRL from a communist!

  • Well a very sweet old lady i know was born in the 1950s. She says only "communist party bootlickers" (whatever that means) could study at university. If you were not in the party university was closed doors for you, she claims. She also claims that a friend of hers was arrested and tortured by the police for weeks for "being against the communists" (again, i dont know what that means). She also said there was no food and you had to buy everything on the black market. If you thought it yes, shes a liberal and quite anticommunist. I think this is because after PRL collapsed her standards of living went up significantly (from low income to middle income) thanks to her son being a successful scientist working in the west.

And yes, its 100% true that communism doesnt exist at all in modern day Poland. When my mom went to Poland with these friends a few years ago (my mom knows im a communist, shes left wing too) she thought "hey, ill buy my son some communist T shirt or something. Here its the former east bloc so they must sell them". She found absolutely nothing, and when she asked for "communist merchandising/memorabilia" in the shops they looked at her like she was crazy or something. Definetely true what you said.

  • Hey! You are the legendary PolandIsAStateOfMind! Glad to see you here on Lemmygrad! I know some polish friends but they say communism in Poland was bad. They basically say "no food, brutal repression". How should i respond to that?

  • GenZedong @lemmygrad.ml

    Very critical support for Orban?

  • This is pure bullshit. There have been transgender people from at least during WW2 that i know of (im italian, theres an old italian trans woman, whos still alive btw, who served as a soldier during WW2 and she declared herself to be a woman just after the war was over), so way before LGBT rights movements became mainstream. This alone completely refutes this bs that transgenderism is an invention of liberals.
