  • Yeah, it's definitely better now then it was before believe it or not. I honestly just avoid them at all cost even on windows. I hate games that ship their own launcher even though I bought it on steam

  • Google maps the best alt is OSM (open street map) but personally I think it's not quite there yet direction wise.

    Shazam is easy tho, Mousai is the shit

  • Thinkpads are usually really good with linux support. I don't know about the new ones tho. I always see people post about their T420 or older

    Cool Linux programs to use in desktop mode?
    • Komikku if you like reading manga this app is amazing.
    • Parabolic used to be called tubeconverter and it's (imo) the best gui app to download youtube videos.
    • Mousai is basically Shazam for linux. Can listen to mic or desktop audio.
    • Newelle give chatGPT access to a linux terminal, what could go wrong?
    • Live Captions listens to words and makes captions in real time.

    Annnd that's all I can think of rn

  • The end goal is to be able to sign in from my friends computers and have my files there seamlessly and my friends able to sign in on my computer with their files there seamlessly. We could set up ceph nodes at each of our houses

    Now that people have moved from reddit to lemmy I'm glad to be using more FOSS software. Now all that's left is discord but I can't find a good replacement.

    Can't get away from Fedora, this distro is just too damn good

    After distro hoping for a while I really feel like Fedora is what desktop Linux should be. Funny because I tried fedora years ago back on 31 or 32 and I hated it
