Scandal-hit Fyre festival is back with tickets at nearly $8,000
  • I'm sure that's part of it. I think also the last Fyre festival became such a sensation that people actually did wish they had gone just to be able to say they were there. For people with lots of money and nothing better to do, maybe thats all that matters

    The Ultimate Showdown
  • I recently learned that the guy that wrote this song is Neil Cicierega, who is also responsible for Potter Puppet Pals AND makes music under the title of Lemon Demon, which I had independently started listening to a few years ago. Funny how one guy is responsible for so many things that I've enjoyed over the years

I hope there is a rule against this Taco Bell employee scratching his butthole
  • A few weeks ago I stopped at a mcdonalds and caught what looked like the manager packing burgers with his bare hands. Like, grabbing the patty, bun, lettuce, everything without gloves. I tried to take a picture but he saw me staring and put some gloves on.

    a new paradigm
  • In trms of the vibe that the title gives off, I guess. First category is a fairly serious-sounding, usually 1 word title, and the second category seems to be a grab-bag of silly titles and titles where the first word is "______'s"

Are there places by the sea in Southern Europe that look like this?
  • Not Southern Europe, but I recently spent time in a little town by the dunes in the Netherlands (Castricum), and it looked a lot like this, even some of the architecture

Biden at the Democratic convention was unrecognisable from his disastrous debate
  • And I'm in agreement with Biden, I think. I love Bernie and think he would have made a great president, but with how close 2020 was for Biden, I doubt he would have won the election. In fact I think part of why Kamala's doing well is for the same reason that Biden did well in 2020: Trump wanted to run against Bernie in 2020, and he wanted to run against Biden in 2024. Trump struggles when things don't go the way he expects them to, and I remember in 2020 a lot of trump's arguments were about how Biden was too far left, almost like he wanted to be making those arguments about Bernie instead

Does Donald Trump understand how the ocean works? Once again Monday night, he claimed that rising sea levels would create “more oceanfront property.”
  • Aside from that, if all the current waterfront property goes underwater, then previously undesirable land will slowly become more valuable, once we know where coastlines will land (it depends on when and at what temperature warming starts to flatten out). When that happens, it becomes another avenue for wealth transfer to the rich.

The single most thing that improved your ADHD?
  • For me, learning to manage my life in a way that works with my ADHD. For example, if I learn I need to do something, and it's something I can do now, I get up and do it. If I don't, I'm likely to forget or put it off too long. Finding ways to build routines, like I suddenly decided I should lick my teeth when getting ready for bed, this makes me realize they are dirty, and I feel forced to brush my teeth before I can sleep. Before that I wasn't brushing every day. You have to figure out what ADHD prevents you from doing like a normal person, and plan around it.

I don't medicate right now because I have enough control to be able to function at work and my day to day life without it. But I've also had success in the past from either Vyvanse and Strattera (took them at different periods in my life)

    I Worked For MrBeast, He's A Sociopath
  • Channels with absolutely zero drama that are still active and I would describe as " interesting content made by someone who cares about it" :

    • cracking the cryptic: solving sudoku puzzles twice daily

    • chessnetwork: explaining famous chess matches and occasionally playing online chess, but with none of the bro culture that has grown up around chess recently

    • Folding ideas: great video essays about film or modern phenomena like NFTs

    • Technology connections: already reccommended, but in depth explanations about how electronics work

    • Language Jones: videos about linguistics and learning new languages

    • Numberphile/StandUpMaths- interesting math videos
