Is hifiberry the best budget sreaming reciever?
  • A few months ago, I would have agreed with you. I own 3 hifiberry products and they are indeed awesome. Their own OS is great and they also worked very well with other software. But then I bought a couple WiiM minis. While it's fun to hack around with the pi, the WiiM just works and it does a couple things I could never get the pi to do. In particular, Qobuz streaming in high def and synchronized multi-room streaming.

    why bother?
  • It's a silver beach. They are usually planted in front of grand estates and after 100 years, they have a huge crown and massive trunk. There's no way this is coming back.

  • Developer in our town is redeveloping a parcel that used to be a Catholic school. The developer wanted to remove the tree because it was in the way, but a lot of people in town protested . I guess now everyone is happy?

    Compare american vs japanese craftsmen-cars
  • I agree with the sentiment of this post, but to be fair, you can also carry 3 or 4 passengers in the left vehicle, as opposed to only one in the right.

The main problem is the US fuel economy regulations actually encourage manufacturers to build bigger trucks and SUVs so they get classified into a category that has looser fuel economy requirements.

How would someone with a terrible singing voice go about learning to sing?
  • As the spouse of a singing teacher... Take lessons from a trained professional (someone that has a degree in vocal pedagogy and / or vocal performance) and practice regularly. Don't expect to be amazing overnight. It may take years of lessons and daily practicing to just get to a level where people don't cringe when you try to sing something.

Did anyone here ever actually fully pay for BMG or Columbia House?
  • Yeah, this is a thread for old farts. I'll confess that I signed up for Columbia House back before CDs. Got 10 records for a penny and had to commit to buy 5 more over the next year. Each month, there was a "selection of the month" announced and if your didn't respond within the required amount of time, it would show up at your door and you were stuck with the bill and the record. This is why many of the records you find on the used market are "club editions" that lack many of the more expensive features like gatefold covers.
