  • If you're using distilled water there's not enough minerals in the water to start the boiling process before the temperature crosses 100 C because microwaves heat it up so fast.

It also doesn't necessarily have to be distilled water, but the the closer it is to just H2O, the higher the chance this will happen.

  • I think the big issue with centrists is they pay absolutely no attention to what's really happening, but wear the term "centrist" like a badge of honor.

So on one end we have Nazis, and the other end we have Democrats who are mostly Center-Right, and then the centrists try to find the middle of that but not having any idea if what that means.

And then we keep getting the enshitification of the U.S.

  • I didn't grow up in Wyoming but it was a rural state in the U.S. People romanticize rural areas until they actually live in one. If if you have a large town nearby and and your wealthy, or at least upper middle class it might be ok, but I'd highly recommend staying where you are.

It's not just the medical care, it's the culture. When you move to a rural area, if you aren't at least the 3rd generation you'll be looked at and treated as an outsider. That doesn't mean people will be hostile towards you, but you won't really be part of the community either.

The entertainment, food, and shopping options are also be very limited.

Edit: "recommend staying where you are"

  • I'm in the U.S. and have a friend that serves court papers for the local county, and when people try this shit the court will often just enter a "not guilty" plea because it's a preliminary hearing.

When trial starts and they try this again, or they just don't show up, is where they start to get in real trouble. He said most of them will change their mind about being sovereign citizen after they start to spend some time in jail.

  • U.S. banks are like food buffets in the U.S. They lose money on a few people, but overall they make money because the product and service is so bad.

  • It's always projection with the right wing. Whatever they're doing, or issues they have, say the left is doing it and has those issues.

  • Much like the mass shootings in the U.S., there's literally no solution for this. /s

  • Never said I hated children, but keep pushing your false narrative to feel good about yourself.

  • You don't know anyone who figures out their village before having kids...but childfree people are the selfish ones. Yeah, that makes sense.

  • Exactly this. People will have kids then expect other people to help out because "it takes a village". Fuck that, figure out who's willing to be in your village, THEN have kids.

  • I worry that people aren't leaning. The wealth gap has been steadily getting worse since Reagan was in office, with Republicans and Democrats.

Reagan had an advisor that basically said you can't say ni**er anymore, so you have to use coded language when talking to white people.

Hillary Clinton coined the term "super predators", so it's not just a Democrat/Republican issue.

People either have to accept that they'll do better when everyone does better, or just keep licking the boot that's on their neck.

I worry they'll just keep licking.

  • "The audit found California spent $24 billion to tackle homelessness over the previous five years but did not consistently track whether the outlay actually improved the situation. In Los Angeles, county and city officials have also moved to take control of an agency that oversees homeless funding after audits found the agency spent money recklessly."

I'm all for getting people into permanent housing instead of living tents. But when you piss away 24 billion that was supposed to do just that, there's going to be a lot of people who don't want to fund it anymore.

I still think it should be funded, but I don't know what the best solution is to make sure the money is used appropriately.

  • The issue I see with those 2 is no one wanted Hillary, and she basically bought off the DNC to get the nomination. Kamala was thrown into the race way too late. Joe should've said right away he wasn't looking for a 2nd term and immediately start pushing Kamala.

Democratic leadership just shoots themselves in the foot, and then blames voters.

  • On the one hand, trying to have a 3rd party right now just splits the vote. But in the other hand, the current Democratic leadership is old people who grift as much as Republicans, but aren't pushing fascism. It's a shit show.

  • Hello, I'm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Even thought most of the state thinks we're basically NYC, it's definitely right wing town. Trying to get away from Reddit and a friend suggested checking out Lemmy.
