Android apps are blocking sideloading and forcing Google Play versions instead
  • I'm currently using APatch, PIFork in script-only mode, and Tricky Store with a leaked keybox.

If you need to spoof for apps you'll need some other stuff. For APatch there's a thing called Cherish Peekaboo, for KernelSU you can use Shamiko. These will do their best to hide the fact that you're rooted from apps. There are some detector apps that can help you fix things that apps might see, but there not entirely needed.

Also since you're not on the stock ROM, you'll need to spoof your props so just use the regular Play Integrity fix.

Linux Scores A Surprising Gaming Victory Against Windows 11
  • Bazzite for me, runs all my games basically 2x as good as Windows. A game that I'd run on low-med graphics and get around 60-70 fps on Windows I can usually run at med-high and get 100.

    I7-5930k and an Rx5700 with a 3440x1440 resolution.

The Best way to switch to Linux is to NOT
  • Aah yeah Nvidia still has some stuff to work out on Linux, but fortunately for me I'm running AMD. Hopefully the Nvidia support gets better soon.

The Best way to switch to Linux is to NOT
  • Bazzite has been astoundingly good for me. The only games that have issues are usually those with kernel-level anti-cheat and tbh I wouldn't play those anyways if I was running Windows (although I understand that's a deal breaker for some).

Support for Bazzite is fantastic too. Kyle and the rest of the folks on Discord are amazing!

SteamOS could see a general distribution release, work with other handheld gaming PCs soon
  • Or just use Bazzite. Already supports multiple handhelds, desktop, and you can have the same exact experience of opening into big picture like the Steamdeck if you'd like.

Custom ROMs have had just about enough of being Android's second-class citizens
  • Even just being rooted on the stock Pixel rom is a fight. It's a constant cat and mouse game to pass basic and device integrity, but as of recently a lot of us have been able to pass strong integrity as well which has been nice.

Why Are You Staying On Windows 11?
  • Yeah I can back this. I switched to Bazzite about 6+ months ago after messing with Linux on the Steamdeck and I haven't looked back.

    Gaming on Linux is great!
  • I switched to Bazzite about 1/2 a year ago and haven't looked backed. Better performance, more stable, I can do dev work that I'm used to without WSL and such.

The best part is I have absolutely 0 incentive to play games that come with a kernel-level rootkit anticheat too!

  • So after one of my recent comments about if Linux is ready for gaming, I decided to pick-up a new Intel based wifi adapter (old one was broadcom and the drivers on fedora sucked and would drop connection every few minutes).

So far everything is great! Performance wise I can usually run every game about one tier higher graphically (med -> high) with the same or better performance than on Windows. This is on an rx 5700 and an ultrawide.

Bazzite is running great as always. Still getting used to the immutability of the system as I usually use Arch btw, but there are obviously workarounds to that.

Overall I'm still getting used to the Steam "processing vulkan shaders" pretty much every time a game updates, but it's worth it for the extra performance. Now I'm 100% Linux for my gaming between my Steamdeck and PC.
