  • @Wooster @LtLiana There’s also the interesting examples of John M Ford’s Klingons and Diane Duane’s Romulans - both of those authors’ works became touchstones for others - until TNG sort of swept away the Klinzhai and Rihansuu

  • @frankPodmore @ValueSubtracted I feel about the same. The songs and singing were not memorable in the slightest and I keep watching it in 5-10 minute bits because I just don’t care about it. But a brave experiment anyway. They can’t all be winners.

  • @deweydecibel I’m not sure? I just hit the “reply” button in my client. In this case, Ice Cubes for iOS. Perhaps it doesn’t translate smoothly into Lemmy just yet.

  • @maegul @startrekexplained At first it looked strange (but awesome) because the Enterprise is so massive. But then if you think about it, why shouldn’t it be super nimble, especially with an android flying it. It’s certainly got enough power to spare and my understanding is that even impulse engines generate a subspace field and we know this lower the mass of what they envelop so…basically Data could’ve tuned the ship to be light and quick to whatever degree he wanted.

Can any music experts explain to me why the TNG theme is so good?
  • @maegul It’s especially puzzling because they had a great theme song right in front of them - and they stuck it in the end credits!

  • @Rhaedas @maegul @Bishma @kargarocP4 When I watched the premiere of Enterprise and the theme came on I thought it was a technical error - that the station had somehow crossed the audio streams with another show!

What are some canon myths that keep perpetuating in the collective headcanon of fans?
  • @khaosworks It was an interesting article for sure! Love these Trek mythbusting posts. I should go re-read Mr Scott's Guide too, wonky chronology or not...

  • @khaosworks @concrete_baby Oh wow. I remember reading this “fact” in Mr Scott’s Guide to the Enteprise or a similar technical manual in the 80s!
