And he does a superb job too
  • Now I can’t tell if you’re bringing yourself “down” to their level or bringing them “up” to our dystopian world view.

Ants are pretty smart, in groups
  • I’d like to see a larger group of people doing this with extremely limited communication. Like if you had 100-200 people only allowed to push the shape with their mouse cursor in a web app. I have a feeling we’d end up with similar results to the ant time-lapse.

Basically like the collaborative canvas projects around April fools.

  • Mine is 7 now and he’ll pick his own clothes most days.

The irony is that pajama day should be easy, get out of bed and go to school. Except he rarely wears PJs to actual bed and strips down to undies. So he still had to pick out and outfit on PJ day. And it was cold, so he wore his sweater over it anyway.

Making the snack and lunch everyday is the hardest though, we spoiled him with too much variety early on and now it’s biting us on the ass.

  • Pfizer still got billions from the government and was allowed to patent Covid vaccines that we all fucking paid for.

Also their dick pills are covered by insurance while meds my wife needs to make it through perimenopause aren’t.

Pfuck them all. Drug companies are at least half the problem with US healthcare, look at what Perdue and the Sacklers did.

Watching the Generative AI Hype Bubble Deflate
  • you could enter a question and then it tells you which part of the source text statistically correlates the most with the words you typed; instead of trying to generate new text. That way in a worse case scenario it just points you to a part of the source text that's irrelevant instead of giving you answers that are subtly wrong or misleading.

Isn’t this what the best search engines were doing before the AI summaries?

The main problem now is the proliferation of AI “sources” that are really just keyword stuffed junk websites that take over the first page of search results. And that’s apparently a difficult or unprofitable problem for the search algorithms to solve.

  • Not in NYC, that leaves you with hundreds of dollars a month after rent if you’re lucky.

I made 70-90k in Boston and had nothing left for savings if I dared to eat out once a week.
