It does depend on the condition of the train and rail network, though. It could be going at 60 kph, and if it was bouncing and jouncing around, I'd be worried it was going too fast too.

Not saying that was necessarily the case here, but it's a possible explanation

Counterpoint: LotR trilogy, where we know pretty much everything about the production and income (a lot of income), somehow mysteriously stays unprofitable to this day.

As long as the maker of the clone doesn't just copy the code of the original game they have to build every single function and every script themself. Also how those parts work together. Bugs sometimes require creative ways of working around them. If the developer doesn't work with templates that is a lot of decision making on how the game is supposed to function.

None of that requires creativity. I say that as a programmer.

If they don't want to spend a lot of money they also have to create the assets. 3D models or sprites, sounds, music, GUI.

Which... Is the issue under discussion here, that they didn't bother to create something new, but just copied the look and feel of the existing assets.

Hasn't skint been around for a century? It's not quite a short form though, it's a variant of skinned, and almost the same length.

That's also a pretty tired response. There's a huge percentage of the world population that are experiencing, or about to, a boom in their living standards. There's absolutely no chance that global consumption will drop anytime soon. Given that realistic constraint, anything we can do to make production greener will help.

Loving the theme is a very good reason to play a game :) As long as you enjoy it, don't feel pressured to change!

Based on your changes, it seems you're looking for extra complexity and length. I don't know what other games you like, but I'd suggest Terraforming Mars as having similar gameplay with some of the changes you've house ruled. It's also got a bunch of expansions so you could adjust as you see fit.

Serious question though, why not just play a different game? I'm not criticising your choice here, I'm just curious. There's nothing very unique about wingspan, you could probably find another game that does what you want without the house rules.
