Authors for the most part are not the ones writing the titles for their articles.

I tried element a week ago after a similar discussion. Afaict, it does not fill the same niche. I'm very open to being corrected, but it doesn't seem like element has support for multi-room communities.

Also, multi device login was extremely wonky. I'm not going to recommend something that'll end up with me having to play tech support to get it working.

Discord isn't like reddit though, you don't have the userbase spread out across the same space regardless of the users. For discord every server is a standalone community and they're each going to have their own standards of civility.

I gave element / matrix a try recently. It's a very different use case, as (AFAICT) it does not support multi-channel rooms (or whatever you call it). The closest analogue would be WhatsApp / Telegram / Signal.

Also, multi device login is wonky as hell, took me 20 mins of repeated attempts to get it working.

'that's my lap' doesn't really indicate rejection, just absolute lack of understanding of what's going on. A fairly common case for a lot of guys.

It's a resort, not a tourist attraction. You can always find another place to stay. Don't see the big deal.
