  • Wow. my app cut off this comment so editing:

Nope! They send occasional emails when they find new records or a past relative’s birthday, but I have not received any spammy ones from the Mormons or asked to join their cult.

  • I use familysearch.org. It’s free! I’m not sure what country you’re in, but I’ve found a lot of info on European, Italian, and some African ancestors through there.

e-reader or tablet for reading academic paper
  • Look into ReMarkable and Supernote. ReMarkable has a pencil to paper feel and Supernote is like writing with a gel pen. Both are pretty great, but ReMarkable has a longer battery life.

    What the heck's going on?
  • Yep. They’ve got into an Admin’s account: Michelle something. Word is to avoid any of “her” posts and wait for them to figure it out.

Have you explored an abandoned building? If so, what was it like?
  • So many, but I think my favorite was The Boyce Thompson Center in Yonkers, NY around 2004.

Pic when it was abandoned (which was after I went because it still had some windows back then): https://www.yonkersny.gov/Home/ShowPublishedImage/13314/635695526682900000

Now it’s been turned into some kind of mall thing according to google.

It was huge and creepy with underground tunnels that were flooded. The elevator shafts were standing open. We found a giant safe stuck on the stairs. It was one of the coolest experiences. Sadly, this was before everyone had a camera phone and I don’t think any of the crust punks I was with took any actual pictures.
