[Weekly] What are you reading this week? [8/06/23]
  • I finished Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson last week and decided to re-read The Odyssey by Homer. I’ve only read ~10% but it’s still as good as I remember it from my college English class

  • Currently reading Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson. I’ve taken a bit of break from it bc the last chapter I read had a twist that threw me for a loop lol

  • I’m also reading two-ish books! The first isDead Ringers by Christopher Golden. It’s a horror novel about doppelgängers. I’m only like 2 chapters in so that’s really all I know lol. The second is Dreamcatcher by Stephen King—another horror novel that I’m actually re-reading. It’s about a group of friends who, while out on their yearly gamehunting trip, get caught in the crossfire of a supernatural event. Loved it the first time, and so far I’m loving it the second time around :)

Do you have a favorite film scene that you come back to again and again?
  • I initially read this as favorite films and came to say The Princess Bride or Clue. But for favorite scenes, I’d say the one where Inigo is growing impatient waiting for the Man in the Mask to scale the mountain or the part of Clue where the butler races around the mansion trying to explain the murders

    My blue pothos
  • @sam

Lovely! I have a golden pothos that I also love to death. She’s dramatic as hell but always bounces back

Another ticked off my wish list.
  • oh my gosh it’s so pretty! How are philodendrons as plants? They look lovely but I’m curious if they’re challenging plants

How often to water a succulent?
  • Do you mind me asking what type of succulent you have? But for a fixed interval, I would say watering every 4 weeks should be safe. And when you water, you can pour the water over the top of the soil (like you would with a watering can or squeeze bottle) OR you can do “bottom watering” wherein the plant is placed in bowl/bucket full of water for like 45-60 minutes. With bottom watering, the idea is that the plant takes up the water it needs and because the water is beneath the pot, the roots grow downward.

For top watering, a good rule of thumb is to water the plant until you see water run out of the drainage hole at the bottom. For bottom watering, you stop when the top soil is damp.

Whichever way you water, make sure to let the excess water drip out of the bottom of the pot. You don’t want to leave the plant sitting in water—that can lead to the roots rotting and the plant will die.

I’ll include a link to a vid about watering techniques because I know it was confusing to me. Best of luck OP!
