  • On Unix and Unix-like systems when a file or directory name starts with a . its hidden by default.

This convention is maintained in the UI for MacOS so you don't see the .DS_Store directory unless you ask to show hidden files.

  • In some companies the restrictions are just knobs that were turned for the fun of it.

We do cloud native and they blocked WSL suddenly.

You can't use Docker/Podman without WSL. So everyone had to bypass the restriction in order to be productive.

  • Sometimes EAC can cause this.

I don't know how but it's possible there is a mismatch between your EAC version installed and the one the game expects causing stuttering when it logs the errors.

I experienced this with The Finals and the devs resolved with a patch that reconciled the EAC version.

  • Something I'd really like is a way to export a list of apps I have installed with FDroid so I can easily repkicate them to a new phone.

As for hidden features, you can share APKs directly to another person using fdroid. It's great for when your recipient doesn't have fdroid

  • Yeah but it could be an open standard, for Linux, could it not?

I don't really understand your first point though. That would be no problem if you organized the packages and declared conflicts for systemd against the other init systems.

  • If I want something out of the box. I grab HomeKit devices.

Home Assistant can act as a Homekit controller so you get the offline benefits without the effort.

I don't even have an Apple device in the house and it all still works great.

  • I thought the opposite. That when you're cold, and your body releases Norepinephrine, that it re-enforces your immune system.

Which makes sense to me from a personal experience. I like to run around in the snow in tshirt and shorts and embrace the cold. I very rarely catch colds and always thought it was genetics and not a product of environment
