Gamedev and linux
  • Pro-Linux game dev who releases a Linux-native version, then proceeds to break down the stats to explain to a non-Linux crowd why he chooses to do so? Fuck it, take my money.

I realized why I enjoy Linux so much and why I've stuck with it all these years (slight vent)...
  • Definitely agree with this sentiment. Another aspect for myself -- When I tell Linux to do something, it fucking does something. No questions, no obfuscating, no disallowing in order to "save me from myself". I have a significantly increased sense of control over MY hardware with Linux.

It is frankly unfathomable to consider going back to the telemetry / spyware laden corporate controlled systems of the mainstream OSes.

The recent criticism of Linus Tech Tips, explained
  • I've legitimately never understood the appeal of his channel. Linus always came off as smug to me -- not in the way he talks to the camera necessarily but in the way he talks to his guest / colleague / other person on screen. And based on what little I have seen, the ego certainly doesn't seem justified. Plus there are a multitude of other "gadget / tech" channels available (that don't interrupt every 3rd sentence to hock some overpriced merch).

But there's no accounting for taste so, to each their own I guess.
