  • You know, if they actually followed the moral teachings laid out in the Bible - the spirit, not the letter - I'd almost be okay with this.

Have you read the Bible? It's pretty horrific all the way through. Any good is pretty well overshadowed. The spirit and the letter are awful.

Turn the other cheek, but also buy your slaves from the heathen that surround you and feel free to beat them with a rod as long as they don't die immediately.

  • We have a law in Texas that an Atheist can't hold office. Really stupid, but it would have to be challenged to get rid of it.

Just to be clear that's unconstitutional. That law has no force or effect.

    Torcaso v. Watkins, 367 U.S. 488 (1961)

  • Honest question here.

...the nearest store is 20 miles away. There are no bus lines, there is no rail, there is nothing. I've posted this question to others and they all break down to "Well they should have transport". Yes! They SHOULD.

But should they? At that point what mass transit would be economically feasible? I would think even a bus at that rate of ridership would be a waste.

  • If below cost was your main point, perhaps don't wait 5-10 comments in. The points that you raised up to that point we addressed in my initial comment.

My apologies, you are an idiot. Below cost was literally contained in my first comment, I haven't even made 5 comments, let alone 10.

Learn to make your point more effectively and perhaps you'll come across as less foolish and less abrasive when online.

How ineffective of me to clearly state the point you failed to comprehend in my first post. Luckily being right means I don't have to concern myself with being abrasive to idiots.

  • Unfortunately, you're either dishonest or an idiot with poor reading comprehension. I think it's the former. The words you decided to ignore were "below cost". BYD sells a car for $10k, alternatively Tesla's cheapest car is around $40k. If you can't understand the difference, then I can't help you.

  • When there are multiple established companies, then we can worry about how fair the competition is.

If you let a company, that is subsidized by a foreign government, sell goods at below cost you won't have multiple established companies.

  • Lol, are you new to the US legal system?

If by new you mean an attorney for over a decade, then I guess so. But its occurrence, or alleged regularity, doesn't make it any less serious of an ethics violation. You can get away with a lot of shit as an attorney, but if you steal someone's money or lie to the court, they're going to drop the hammer on you.

  • If the prosecutor knows the cop is going to lie and calls him as a witness and allows, or even worse, elicits, that testimony then they are suborning perjury. They would likely be suspended or disbarred from the practice of law.

  • As to #1, yeah, I get you.

Are there young children having transition surgery? My understanding is that transitioning requires years of therapy. That young minors are typically only given puberty blockers, followed by HRT when appropriate. There are standards set by medical organizations.

#2 would concern me, but it seems regret over transitioning is a tiny percentage.

My understanding is that a lot of the regrets stem from society not accepting them.

#3 You're talking about political capital, a thing I find almost no one understands.

What political capital is needed to not be an asshole. Do you need a lot of capital to not target already at-risk youth?

  • Anyway, the new terms are about waiving your right to a class action lawsuit. It's weird to me because I'd never considered filing a class action lawsuit against Roku until this. I wish Roku TVs weren't cheap walmart brand sh*t. Someone with some actual money might sue them and sort this out...

The good thing about class action lawsuits is that you don't need money. The law firms are just about the only ones that get paid. If you pay attention to class action settlements it's often something like $3m in attorneys fees, $5,000 to the named plaintiffs, and then a 3 month subscription to the companies own service or a refund of out of pocket expenses, during a specified period, not to exceed $150 per person.

Long story short, firms are more than happy to take on a class action that can be won, but you won't get much.

  • Terrible argument. I think the Medicare for All estimates were like $32 trillion over 10 years. So $4 billion is barely a drop in the bucket.

Better argument is that we currently pay more money to insure fewer people through our current system. Don't get into their games of we have to give up X to get Y, because we definitely don't. And Ukraine funding is imperative.

  • we don’t even need evidence to know

No matter what follows this...yes, we do. You should need evidence to believe anything; understanding of course that the more extraordinary the claim, the more extraordinary the evidence needed.

giving them merely some jailtime is not working either, but whatever

Then imprison them for life. Guess what, life imprisonment is cheaper than the death penalty, and can be overturned if there's an error.
