  • I saw them with The Faint in 2008!

    Relatedly, I saw The Faint again in 2009, with Ladytron.

    Genghis Tron totally blew me away with their sound live, they were the highlight of the night for me.

    Apparently they’re called Forcing Dice; obviously they sell different ones but the concept is the same.

    Obviously these dice will not stand close scrutiny so they are most effective when used sparingly, substituted for a regular die at a critical moment.

    Very useful to magicians who need to force a specific number as part of a trick, or as part of a humorous routine.

    We don’t exactly care because his army has dwindled enough that he’s no longer a threat to Uganda. He was indicted for war crimes in 2005 and has evaded capture since.

    According to Wikipedia, he might have been in Darfur in 2022 but there’s no further source for that.

  • The Walgreens fine was $350 million, which likely wouldn’t have affected them too badly if they weren’t already struggling. CVS’s agreement was $4.9 billion.

    Walgreens has been failing for a few years now because they over-expanded and a lot of their stores weren’t profitable. They have been closing stores and threatening to close stores since the COVID lockdowns.

  • I couldn’t agree more actually! I just wanted to choose one thing at a time.

    I took a university class about wrongful convictions in the early 2000s and a man came and talked to the class who had spent decades in one of the worst prisons in the country, wrongfully. It really opened my eyes at a younger age to how susceptible people are to bias and faulty memory.

    Regardless of the man’s crime, I’m not sure public executions are the way to go.

  • Yep, in my experience leaving a bunch of space on the belt can sometimes cause confusion if the cashier gets distracted!

    So it’s just kind of polite to use it so everyone isn’t relying on implicit cues.
