Anti-Fascist voting
  • In some places it can be seen as helping one candidate, in other places it can be seen as helping the other. The country isn't the same everywhere. Some states lean different ways and so it all depends what your vote is countering.

Retirement in the USA is a scam
  • Are you not adding to it steadily?

Average index funds over the long term mathematically prove you wrong. Short term anecdotes don't disprove 50-70 years of proof.

Horizon Zero Dawn's questionable remaster launches to Mixed reviews as players lament a new mandatory PSN sign-in that wasn't in the original, visual glitches, and audio bugs
  • They redid her face, tons of lighting across the gameworld, and re-recorded tons of voice acting. I think maybe they also redid some motion capture. The original faces and animations were memorably pretty awkward. I read a bit from a developer suggesting they learned lots about what they would have done differently, so they did that.

As a huge fan of the original though, I'm hesitant to ever touch this since they changed so much. It'll feel like some ripoff or something. I find the original a gem, with flaws and all. Every game has flaws, and that's okay.

It feels like those creators who can't just leave their music or movies as it was and keep fucking with it.

Do you give out candy to kids without a costume on Halloween night?
  • I remember it when I was a kid. I also remember some people gave put more or less candy depending on how good your costume was. Felt incredibly judged in public. Hated Halloween for so many reasons.

    Anti-Fascist voting
  • Blanket statements don't work. How each state allocates votes to electoral college votes varies, and each states political leaning varies.

There are times when not voting or voting third party effectively has no effect or the opposite effect.

These oversimplified takes are tiring and pathetic.

    Get better arguments.

What election coverage should I watch?
  • None. First of all, watching news is far worse then reading it in terms of how you guard against subjective influence.

Second, who cares. It's exhausting. It's toxic. What happens will happen and we'll see the news later. I think last time it even took a couple days.

I'll probably see the result without effort the next day, say "huh," and go on with my life.

Journey Back to Felghana: Ys Memoire Sets Western Release for January 2025 | Retro Gaming News 24/7
  • The team that does their Steam ports just got done releasing Ys X. I suspect it's a timing issue and it'll just come later, but who knows. I'll be watching for a Steam version.

  • They ALL suck. Then on top of that you get assaulted with tipping culture. I don't understand why people go to those places, aside from being morons.

Similar feeling about movie theaters. It's literally less comfortable for me and less picture quality than my home TV and couch.

  • It wasn't good. It got old real fast. Now they're giving him and Schrader their own show? And Schrader says he doesn't wanna just throw his opinions out there cause he dislikes everyone giving opinions all the time. That show is gonna suck.

Ys I Chronicles on Steam Deck. Adol meets Dogi for the first time, again and again if you decide to get imprisoned multiple times.

Today is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty from the Master Collection, Volume 1 on Steam. This is really just the HD edition from a decade ago though. But they did seem to enhance the visuals a bit, and like the other collection games, it comes with some background material like a Screenplay. This was probably my 20th time playing this game on yet another platform since the original.

Here messing around with soldiers. I like the markers over their heads.

I also like a lot of the in-game posters. There's some mods for these too. You should give Ghost Babel a try. It's non-canon, but still a great game.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for PS Vita. Fishing edition. Some random fishing pics I grabbed. I liked the fishing part of the game. It even slightly contributes to the story and progress if you catch them all.

Metal Gear Solid from their recent Master Collection, Volume 1. Played mostly via Steam Link and a little bit on Steam Deck. This was playing through the Japanese version (it has pretty much every version included). At this moment I think Snake's saying "that takes care of the cremation."

Here's a bonus screenshot of how this collection handles the games swap to disc 2. It does a disc flip animation showing one disc exiting and another inserting. I liked it.

And here's Johnny freaking out in Japanese.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, Volume 1. Mostly played streaming to my TV via Steam Link, but also played a bit on Steam Deck. I think this is an English dub of the MSX version. This isn't the NES version. It was an excellent game for its time.

Snake also seems really concerned with Christmas as you can see.

Been having issues with lots of pics and getting errors. Apparently I have to reduce the already potato quality down to even more tater quality just to get it to allow upload.

Anyways, here's more Ys II on Steam Deck. A frozen statue allegedly holds interest in our red-haired swordsman.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, Fatesworn DLC for PS4 played on PS5.

Played this game to 100% on PS3 originally. Was fun to play it again completely, and then get a bit more story beyond the original release with this DLC.

I have always felt this was an under-appreciated action rpg with a lot of great lore, fun characters, and varying environments.

The world and lore was created by R.A. Salvatore (fantasy writer), art sonehow directed by Todd McFarlane (Spawn creator), and originally funded by Curt Schilling (baseball player), and then at one point the IP was owned by the State of Rhode Island.

So basically you're getting a story in and out of the game Ha Ha. It was wild to watch this over the years come back to life with a re-release.

Note: Apparently lemmy can't handle large pics. Had to shrink it. So it gets potato quality like my previous Vita screenshots.

Ys I Chronicles on Steam Deck. A (very important to the lore) woman that the main character rescues is fainting because she had to walk all the way back to town. What a monster he is to not carry her the entire way! Haha.

PS Vita game Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. This is early into the game when you find your first castaway. Adol stumbled on her bathing in the stream.

I personally always loved the Vita graphics and the feel of the handheld, so I prefer this version of the game.
