  • "12 foot ladder" helps with the paywall on this one. The article is written in a highly credulous tone. I would have appreciated an interview with someone that was actually receiving income and money in Euros out of the scheme. Like, money money.

At the end - Boston Consulting says that 10% of the market will be tokenized. Sure.

  • Same here - basic but interesting. And hearing about the eugenics never fails to shock me, even when I already know about it.

This interview made me want to read her book.

  • the data collection process was too time-consuming

Just to show how time-consuming this process might have been, it consisted of two people doing google searches and assigning the names them to a handful of categories.

1 - I copied the list of signatories from their website. 2 -Gina Stuessy and I searched the internet for “(name) lawsuit”, “(name) crime” and also looked at their Wikipedia page. 3 -I categorized any results into “financial”, “sexual”, and “other”, and also marked if they had spent at least one day in jail. 4 -Gina and I eventually decided that the data collection process was too time-consuming, and we stopped partway through. The final dataset includes 115 of the 232 signatories.[2][3]

  • Sharing just in case anyone else needs to see it - Safari on Mac gave me all of those login / logout things, and would not show any posts at all, just an error screen. I couldn't even see this note to know what the problem was, even when refreshing. I went to a clean Firefox browser, saw this, cleared Safari history and all is well.

    Mac / OSX Sonoma.

  • I made it to the second sentence and had to google "hedonium," which I figured was a portmanteau-type thing and indeed it was. In my search results for the word, I see LessWrong and Nick Bostrum at the top, so yeah.
