    let's discuss: non major systems
  • I have a bit of an obsession with handheld systems. I've always been on the lookout for cool handhelds. Probably started with some leapfrog devices I had when I was a kid.

Some of the more interesting ones include a piboy. A raspberry pi 4 stuffed into a gameboy dmg like shell to emulate games. More recently I've been very into my analogue Pocket. I play a ton of stuff on that as it can accurately recreate a ton of older systems. I'm also quite interested in getting a playdate at some point, but have yet to justify it.

I also have some modded GBC and GBA systems. With USB c charging and nicer screens

    >You’ll occasionally come across signs bearing dreamlike musings: “the sea shells form a bridge between us,” “there is a dark shape on the horizon,” and so on. As you travel further, the wind changes direction and the evening sky shifts from orange to purple. Platforms get sparser and require leaps of faith or hope. And when you inevitably miss and Waldorf falls into the sea, he wakes up on an ice floe, surrounded by sleeping walruses, waiting to dream again. It’s the clearest example of UFO 50’s willingness to experiment paying off in something as fun to play as it is interesting conceptually, but in a crowded field, it’s far from the only one.

    >"A fantastic adventure and just downright beautiful"

    -------------

    Analog Stick Gaming - 8 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire has a lot of incredible moments, with a scale of creativity that is often executed well. Unfortunately, the 3D sections are nowhere as interesting as the 2D elements, and often fail at using the best qualities of the mechanics to really stand out. All that said, when The Plucky Squire is leaning on its best ideas, it’s a truly engaging and creative title that should be experienced.

    -------------

    But Why Tho? - 8 / 10

    >The whole third act will especially leave you smiling like a fool, because at its core, The Plucky Squire is good, simple fun.

    -------------

    Checkpoint Gaming - 8 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire may be one of the most exceptionally presented video games in recent memory. In moving from the 2D space to the 3D space, a sense of wonder is created that's unrivalled by the vast majority of other releases. That sense of wonderment is captured in the storytelling as well, which leans on the charm of children's fiction. Perhaps a little too scared to create complex depth to the puzzles or gameplay, more mature audiences may find the game lacking in some regard. However, that doesn't stop the title from being widely appealing and an absolute delight from prologue to epilogue.

    -------------

    Console Creatures - Recommended

    >The Plucky Squire is one of my favourite games this year. It's filled with charm, humour, and heart. All Possible Futures understands video games don't need to be complicated and bloated—the emphasis on puzzles, platforming, and combat is straightforward but done incredibly well.

    -------------

    Digitec Magazine - German - 5 / 5

    >“The Plucky Squire” is a masterpiece that enchanted me with its creativity and charm. Something that generally only Nintendo can achieve.

    -------------

    >A magical journey from start to finish that hooked me from page to page.

    -------------

    Gameliner - Dutch - 5 / 5

    >All Possible Futures' The Plucky Squire offers a beautifully creative game featuring a vibrant world with wordplay, combat, and puzzles, alongside seamless transitions between a 2D book and a detailed 3D desk environment.

    -------------

    Gamers Heroes - 90 / 100

    >The Plucky Squire oozes creativity and charm on every page. It stands aside Balatro and Animal Well as one of the best indie games of the year.

    -------------

    GamingTrend - 90 / 100

    >The Plucky Squire is an adorable adventure for everyone to enjoy. It has some issues, like glitches and a less than stellar story, but plucky really is the right word to describe the game. It's technically ambitious and impressively varied, making it easy to forgive its shortcomings.

    -------------

    Kakuchopurei - 90 / 100

    >The Plucky Squire may not be the most challenging game you'll play. It is, however, the most charming, most beautiful, and most engrossing of these 2D action-adventure titles you'll have the pleasure of experiencing.

    -------------

    LevelUp - Spanish - 9.3 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire was worth the wait; it's the definition of indie perfection: it has a lot of quality, heart, soul, innovation and charm. Thanks to the characters, their personality, the world and all the creative things it does constantly, it has become one of our games of the year and one that we will remember with a lot of love.

    -------------

    Marooners' Rock - 8 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is an incredibly inventive and unique amalgamation of 2D and 3D gameplay. Its charming little story is played out with a comedic tone and sarcastic humor that is a welcomed accompaniment to the incredibly fun-to-play gameplay. There were times it felt like Earthbound and others Zelda; however, The Plucky Squire was able to form an identity of its own through its glowing personality. While a tad on the easy side, The Plucky Squire is an artful and entertaining story worth exploring.

    -------------

    MonsterVine - 4 / 5

    >The Plucky Squire is a fun & fresh take on a classic game style, full of heart with a great message for all ages. Just because a story seems simple, doesn't mean it doesn't matter.

    >The Plucky Squire is a creative triumph and certainly lives up to the hype ever since it was first announced. The full experience is wonderful, often employing a change of mechanics from one level to the next, keeping players on their toes with fresh gameplay. > >The Plucky Squire deserves a spot on anyone's list of titles to look forward to this year. It is a refreshing game amidst the barrage of AAA titles, and certainly a reminder that falling back to depend on a creatively fun and polished experience can do no wrong.

    Press Start - 9 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is absolute magic, and a page-turner, from beginning to end. From its first, boisterously narrated word, the game packages so much heart and character within a rather novel, wildly creative notion. It takes what Pixar did for toys and applies it to storybooks.

    -------------

    Prima Games - 8 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is an endlessly charming adventure that tells a wholesome story thanks to its likable cast and lighthearted tone. Jumping from 2D to 3D spaces is technically impressive, no matter how often you've seen the effect play out.

    -------------

    Push Square - 8 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is a delightful adventure that surprises with fun ideas in every chapter. The world within the book offers unique puzzles and challenges, which is compounded by Jot's ability to leap from its pages into the third dimension. Though the combat's kinda flat, and some elements deserve to be used more often than they are, there's an undeniable joy to the game's constant imaginative ideas. It's a short but sweet game that'll win over players of all ages.

    -------------

    Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored

    >An altogether fun action adventure with some charming, and occasionally brilliant, 2D to 3D platforming and puzzling. But don't expect to flex your own creativity, even if it gives you the tools to do so.

    -------------

    Stevivor - 7.5 / 10

    >While both Astro Bot and The Plucky Squire are about creativity and joy, the latter manages to get in its own way in comparison. The result is jarring.

    -------------

    TechRaptor - 8.5 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is an incredible action-adventure game combining 2D and 3D, but needs just a little more shine.

    -------------

    Tom's Hardware Italia - Italian - 9 / 10

    >All Possible Futures, in their first challenge, deliver a meticulously crafted work of art that surprises with several unexpected twists, sure to leave you smiling more than once. If you're in the mood for a light-hearted story, suitable for everyone, with highly original level design, then The Plucky Squire is the game for you: a simple adventure capable of warming your heart.

    -------------

    WayTooManyGames - 8 / 10

    >I absolutely adored The Plucky Squire. It takes the simplicity of older 2D games and mixes it with the fun exploration found in more modern 3D puzzle platformers. My only complaint is that I found the puzzles to be a bit too devoid of challenge, as I would have loved to have seen more done with the page-turning, book-shifting concepts they introduced. Still, this is a game that is truly something unique and can be enjoyed by everyone, especially with all the accessibility options available.

    -------------

    WellPlayed - 9.5 / 10

    >A wickedly creative romp through a basic storybook tale of good versus evil that ends up being anything but basic, The tale of Jot and his merry band of mates is one that you will easily enjoy - remembered long after that final page has been turned.

    -------------

    XboxEra - 7.5 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is a game clearly made with a serious amount of love for the wonderful medium of glorious interactivity that is video games. And for it being the first title from development team All Possible Futures, it’s a staggering achievement in art, design and ideas. It’s just a shame the gameplay didn’t get as much attention as the nostalgia it so skilfully indulges.

    -------------

    ZdobywcyGier.eu - Polish - 10 / 10

    >The Plucky Squire is one of the best games of this year. The highly varied gameplay perfectly combines with a creative approach to building the game world in both 2D and 3D sequences. The above elements, combined with near-perfect technical condition and very good sound design, put this production next to the best games of the year.

www.seattletimes.com WA lands commissioner recount results: Democrat Upthegrove poised to advance to general

The race was the tightest on record in Washington primary history, nearly shutting out Democratic candidates for the post in the November general election.

An insanely close race that was the focus of WA state for the last few weeks with a lot of lessons learned I think.

    1. Down ballot races matter. Upthegrove got second by only 53 votes in the end. Vote!

    2. Washington's mail voting system works. There were roughly 10 vote numbers changed in the entire state after the hand recount was done.

    3. First past the post voting is awful. The Democrats got the majority of votes, but it was split between 5 candidates vs the 2 Republican candidates. We almost had a general election with 2 Republicans up in an extremely blue state. 2 candidates who are in the pocket of the timber industry.
