Is there any good, free search engine left?
  • Not sure if its untrustworthly or not, but switched over to Startpage and been liking the results. Just wished it would implement the !bang system from ddg

I need a new phone but I want to do this right
  • Typing this up on /e/os on OnePlus6t. Love it for ~2 years now. Signed up and support the project now with their ecosystem (64gb option).

  • Interesting. Just tested this on the publicly o one I use and typed in "President Biden, White house". Sure enough it produced pictures of him standing within the White House but none of them had his face being displaying correctly. Either messed up, blurred out or just looked horrifying.

  • Not a true alternative, but I love Freetube. Just for the fact that I don't have to have an account tied to it with no ads and sponsor ads is nice.

Lately there's been connection issues but usually gets resolved with 2-3 days.

Even works on my raspberry pi.

What is the best cheap cell phones that support Lineage OS (or your perfected Privacy rom)?
  • Its going be very hard to move away from my One plus 6T. Has been the best phone for trying out custom Roms, currently running /e/os on it. Just make sure you get an unlocked version

    3 baby frys found overnight
  • I let the bigger one who I found about 2 weeks ago out in the main part of the tank since he's big now. So now it's only the baby frys in the cage.

    Thanks for the info

  • About 10 days ago I noticed a baby fry (believe its a guppy) and now there's 3 more! Funny thing is that I took this picture earlier this morning and now there's another one! So I now have 5 baby guppies!!!

what foss phone OS do you use and why?
  • Been using /e/OS on a OnePlus 6T for the last ~2 years and love it. The built-in ad tracker blocker works well. GoS works for the best part and if it doesnt, heading over to the website usually works.

Used to be Grey, now White but turning Orange
  • Amazing write up / information!

Any chance the store was Jacks Aquariums? Loved going there as a kid.

So all other perameters are good - (pH,nitrates and ammonia. Its just the nitrates that are bad.

I do have another 20 gallon tank. Would it be worthwhile and moving the three goldfish over here? Sounds like it wouldn't be a good idea.

Once again thank you for the information

  • Been rocking an One plus 6T with /e/OS (love their built in tracker blocker) for 3 years now. Bought it second hand for $75. Can't beat it. Probably my favorite phone for Android Roms

Used to be Grey, now White but turning Orange
  • Wow, amazing information. So there is one medium size airatior that sits on the bottom of the tank, producing bubbles. Also have an AquaClear HoB filter, rated for 30 gallons. Also a Green machibe but it only runs overnight on a timer

Yeah the goldfish were acquired since they are hardy as well as only being .75 cents! Been nice to see them grow bigger. But the store person said that they can be counted as "3-4" fish and I probably have overcrowded it.

Also have added some live plants several weeks ago but not sure if they are helping or not.

Testing for nitrates with a liquid test kit produces either dark orange to dark red results, which is bad

  • Got back in to this hobby about a year ago. Currently only have a 20 gallon tank, which houses 12 fishes, making it a community tank.

Things have been great but have to admit I have lost some due to not knowing what I was doing.

Fast forward and things have calmed down, without any others dying. Nitrate has been a constant battle which has led me to weekly water changes (50%). Also as of late but cutting how much I feed them in basically in half.

What it seems to be happening is that one of my Goldfish who is currently all white (used to be gray) is now turning orange. Is this normal?

Not the best picture possible, but i believe i have total 2 male Red Gold's and one female, with the female being pictured here. I purchased a separation net, just in case and shes doing fine.

Signs that show this may be true

    • Other fish were following her around, poking at her
    • Red bottom area, getting darker
    • More of a "boxy" stomach area

    Hey community,

Just found this community earlier today and need some help. Last week i purchased this tank (starter kit that came with everything) for a good price and wanted to get back into aquariums. After filling up the tank with water and letting it "cycle", thought it would be a good time to add some fish.

I was handed some test stripes from a local shop and when tested, it seemed to pass all the tests. Last night i bought 8 fish (4 neon tetras, 2 Red-gold guppies and 2 algee eaters). Things seemed to be fine until i checked on them this morning.

All of the neon tetras had died. 2 of them were floating and two of them havent been counted for. As i prepare the decreased ones a proper burial at the upstairs bathroom, I wanted to reach out to the community and see what i did wrong, how to improve to sustain a healthy environment for them.

Please let me know any recommendations, clearly the information here isnt enough, so i can update the information when needed.

    Thanks,

Been watching over the recent surge in fediverse users for about a week now. Last week, it was climbing what i would call naturally, organically. Now for the last couple days, its been like 350k in the last 2 days.

Love to see the growth of users, but these have to be bot created accounts. I dont want this to be bot infested community. I see the value in bots when used correctly, but lets be real - general population and bots could ruin this community.

Is there anything planned? Is there work from some third party to throw off the "stableness" of Lemmy / fediverse?
