Linux Directory Structure - FHS
  • I always thought it was user and never questioned it. Yeah man there's shared libraries in there for all the users, so it's user. This makes more sense now.

What are some game series you would like to see revived? And if possible, which entry should the new game follow from?
  • Dude this is the correct answer. A new soul reaver game would be dope.

Also, could we encase the whole thing in plastic?
  • No joke last night I went for a late night snack. I pulled out some hard salami, aged Swiss, and some nice crackers. I realized this bastard charcuterie was just a luxury Lunchables.

By time I make it to season 2: “🎶 I've got (I've got, I've got) Faith of the hearrrrrt 🎶"

Season 3, ep 1: "What the shit is this? What have they done to our song!?"

Today, I left windows behind for good
  • This was me a few months ago when I started seeing ads in start menu. I love Linux and use it for work but was worried about things like VRR, scaling, HDR support, periperhal support etc. While a lot of those things are still a WIP I have had no major issues (except occasional anticheat borked but even then rarely).

I ended up going bazzite and I'm really liking it. What distro you go with OP?

If "AI" doesn't attract customers why are companies hyping it so hard? Are they just dumb or is there another factor?
  • Oh dude but so many great and useful applications came out of blockchain that are completely unrelated to crypto... /s

DEFECT | Official Reveal Trailer (Unreal In Engine) | Wishlist Now
  • Everyone knows what unreal engine is bro. But as a turn of phrase people usually say "built with UE4“ or" using UE5" or some other verb/preposition. Not unreal in engine. It doesn't make sense.

Child rapist ex-cop’s 10-weekend US jail sentence called ‘epitome of injustice’
  • So even tho it's bullshit sentence I took away 2 things: 1) getting a guilty plea deal outweighed the risk of no conviction in this case, which leads to 2) he has another pending trial for a different case, and now we have established a guilty pattern of behavior. So hopefully they throw the book at him for that one and send him to prison where he will meet a lot of nice people that like him a lot...

Why does my treadmill want my email address?
  • Oh for sure. Actually the thread mesh network that a lot of matter capable devices use is based on zigbee. It's like zigbee mesh + ipv6

Why does my treadmill want my email address?
  • Apple Home and Google home are matter controllers. So yes. Direct benefit still for those home users is you can mix and match OEM products (like light bulbs) and not need to have a seperate app/acct/hub/bridge/controller whatever for those products. If you don't want to go the DIY route.

Why does my treadmill want my email address?
  • So there are newer protocols under an IoT standard called "matter" that solve a lot of these problems. You can manage them with a local controller like home assistant. No need to create accounts or ship data out to a public cloud. Private, local device adoption and mgmt. I've been an early adopter and there have been some challenges but it's gotten a lot better recently.
