  • Check out the Hisense e-ink phones. Not great if you watch videos, but for normal phone things they seem awesome.

  • One thing DA 2 did really well (though a deviation from the crpg formula) was making it feel like your companions had lives of their own. When doing their quests it felt like you were joining them on their own adventure, as opposed to just waiting in camp to follow you.

    Hasn't happened yet
  • I've been fortunate enough to have seen my material conditions improve as I've entered my mid-thirties which has let me start a family and buy a home. I've also watched my incredibly talented and hard working friends/acquaintances/neighbours be ground into dust under the cruel rule of capitalism. I got lucky, they didn't, this has radicalized me far more than any naive idealism ever could.

What do you think some of the fediverse's primary stumbling blocks are?
  • The ability to “float” between servers would go a long way to improve this. Make an account on one server, then come across another that you vibe with more, and single button press and you’ve transferred. All you subs, comment history etc are preserved (for overlapping federated servers). No idea how to implement this, but it feel achievable, perhaps with a quick step to set up a new password and username if it was taken.

Gamers. What was the game that got you into the hobby?
  • Monkey Island 1 & 2 were my gateway drug but Grim Fandango solidified it for me. The blend of puzzles and narrative just hooked me as an 11 year old. Now things like Obra Dinn, Disco Elysium and Outer Wilds have taken it to a whole new level.

What's a scam that's so normalized that we don't even realize it's a scam anymore?
  • I agree that it’s a bit of a stretch. What I think they’re getting at is that individualism as it’s pushed by imperialist media creates the toxic environment that fosters the cultural traits that you’re referring to.

What thing are you exponentially more experienced in than the average person?
  • I'm a massive nerd and I've always wanted to end up in a career that would let me deep dive to the point where the average person wouldn't have any idea what I'm talking about. I ended up in a generalist role so now I'm just slightly more personable than my peers and barely any more knowledgeable. It's probably good for my social skills, but I'd love to be weirdly out of touch on some niche topic.
