My team and managers have been awesome with respecting my time. It’s ironic that Jassy wants to “operate like a startup” but won’t trust his management to make the best decisions so we work quickly.
Fuck… I was doing coffee badging recently. 5 days is a lot to just drive to the office and back. I need to look for other dev jobs in Seattle that actually respect their employees, but the market is gonna be so cold after this announcement.
I have until January 2nd apparently.

Soooo. I’m dumb. I host my overseerr on my domain that just routes to my local IP for my local desktop. How do I get email on this domain without spending dumb money on an email hosting server?

My wife’s engagement ring was custom made! It is a key blade with the kingdom hearts logo on the front, with tiny tiny diamonds on the hearts and 3 small sapphires in the little crown on the heart. I tried to get moissanite, but because the diamonds are so small, they said they don’t make moissanite that small, and it would save fractions of a dollar.
It cost me less than half a semester’s tuition in college, so not super expensive like the “3 months salary” bullcrap.
In fact, I had to go through two jewelers for this because when I was pitching the concept to the first one, they saw the Disney logo on the key blade and refused to do it. I just clipped that out when I went to another shop.
Ahhh. I see. Yea, just make all the receptacles the same! Hue is nice in that the bridge doesn’t need to connect to the internet to communicate with the devices, and the lights only go through the same bridge.
I love telling my phone to turn off my lights in bed, or changing the color of my lights with a simple command. It’s super handy and I’m never going back.
I remember when I was in college running a hackintosh. I was at the end of the hall and had awful Wi-Fi reception, so I just had my desktop emitting Wi-Fi for me and my dorm mate. I pirated some stuff but never seeded. I told my roommate about pirating and whatnot and showed him how to pirate Parks and Recreation. He didn’t turn off seeding. The university banned my MAC address, but luckily I could spoof one and have internet. He had to go to the dean and tell him he was sorry and that he won’t do it again to get my hardware MAC banned so I didn’t have to change it every time I booted up.
The fact that it was so simple for me to get around this ban was hilarious.
Exactly. I fuck with software and device issues all day at work. I don’t want my free time to always be fucking with my phone. I was jailbroken for so long back in the day but it’s just a hassle now when I just want to go home and relax.
Exactly. I just click a button on my laptop and it pairs. Start playing a video on my phone? It instantly jumps to my phone. No lag, no pairing waiting. Didn’t want that? Click the “connect” button on the laptop bc it just noticed that it jumped to my phone. My Apple TV notices when the AirPods are around. Did I ever have to pair them to the Apple TV? No! They’re connected to my account and can see the other devices easily.
This is really cool! I just applied. I live in a moderate sized city, so I do walk a bit. I hope to help you out on the iOS side of things since lemmy is very android heavy.
I really think this will motivate me to walk more, as I really only walk to work and the store when necessary.
